Remember when I said "Ouch, My Fandom"?

Consider this a bashing I'm not sure my fandom can recover from.  They've long since revealed much of the casting of the upcoming Last Airbender film(s), but it wasn't until now that I've REALLY started to doubt.  If you are a fan of AVATAR, like me, you should follow Rufftoon's journals.  In her latest entry, we get the latest pics of the main four.  And now more!

Fandom... flatlining...  Owwww...

There's so much to dislike...  As of now, I'm still, believe it or not, planning on seeing the film, because I have to believe the world-scapes and special bending effects will be awesome.  But I gotta say, if their acting skills don't wow my socks off, I call it officially a bust.

Such a damn shame.

Ah well.  Their acting can't be worse than the Harry Potter kids.  Hell, all of the HP movie cast, actually, and a lot of those were known to be good actors.  But it's as if the director told them American audiences would have problems with an entire movie of British accents speaking Latin-raped spells, so told them all to speak very slowly and clearly.  It's improved marginally over time, this affliction, but it was a tragic decision, I think.  (One of many.)  There are clearly great (decent) child actors of the British variety, who don't overexaggerate their words.  (Freddie Highmore, the kid in Love Actually, the kids from the Narnia movies, all the boys in Finding Neverland, every child that has appeared in a Dr. Who episode.)  So I feel justified in my outrage and disappointment.

Swing and a miss, guys.  Big, budget-burning swing... big, audience-disappointing miss.
