I agree on the lazy, incompetent front. Since Floral has so few hours right now (and three people) I was asked (almost begged) to help out in the Deli. So I was in the Deli the other day with five other people, and I know it was slow, but at least pretend you're working. I step to the front from washing all the dishes and find four people gabbing, without even a towel in their hands. There is always stuff to do and that was a really bad example for the new girl ( ... )

See that's exactly what it's like here - must be universal! - busy people get given more work because their competent, while lazy people are ignored because epectation is they wont do it.
One of the guys with me has a saying 'Skivvers-skive, Workers-work' (skiver=slang-lazy person who avoids work) it's very true.

I've been there when on days, and walked off dept telling duty they clearly didn't need me and I'd be helping elsewhere.

On nights I help H&B if have any time to spare, which is generally one person (ok my friend) but she works hard all shift, while grocery can be finished early (not often) and mess around for the rest of their shift instead of helping - there's a real 'this is my job' attitude and 'reasons' I can't entirely blame them - but I'm not volunteering to help them.
(My work being seperate, no obligation to help anyone, but I'm not going to watch someone struggle when I can.)

One of the worse things is how nice/polite this women is. This is an older 'lady' (late 50s) (they call her Lady name) who acts like she' ( ... )

The dreaded passive-aggressive. I've been the victim of that more than a few times (once, as the floral manager was talking about how fast and efficient she was with the implied "and you aren't", she almost broke a lot of glass. After that I've just let it slide) lately she has someone else to complain about and so I've hadn't had to hear it - pointed at me, at least.

I hate it, if you've something to say - say it. It's poisenous and upsetting because when it is pointed at you you often can't respond without becoming the villian.

I've actually had a few 'meep will be showing us, she's the expert' that I'm not sure how to take to be honest. A put down of someone else probably.

MAY-beeeee they'll get someone who's better to come in from outside....

You like nights. And you like not having to deal with customers around while you're working. *sighs* And let's face it the stress will be killing and it's so much easier to know that they're the ones fucking up and it's not your fault, you can't be blamed.

Things to consider:
She'll still be there but on day shift.
Will the store go belly up if she fucks things up more badly in that position?
Will she be in a position to make your life more miserable than she is now?
Will she be the one doing your employee reviews?
What will the extra stress do to your shoulder?

Surely they know how incompetent she is because they are kind of hinting that you'd be a better choice. Maybe if you don't take the position they will bring someone else better than her in to fill it?

What does Mr. Meep say? Never discount the other half. He'll be the one picking up the pieces if this turns out badly if you do take the position.

Problem is she's a victim of the (fucking stupid) reshuffle and previously the cash-office manager (doesn't bare thinking of considering how I had to explain the difference between 'g' and 'kg' cash office person not knowing the importance of a decimal bloody point?!?!) this means giving her her postion back ( ... )

Ranting is a stress reducer. *grins*

You know... if line manager is aware and hinting then someone might be thinking of making a change of person that isn't a voluntary leaving.

But who would take out the Cookie to leave her crumbs if both of the slave Meeps are working days?

Yep - it's going around at mo. in work ;)

I don't know how much they'd listen to him, he's new and not at all office trainned despite being our line manager. She'd not go to any other dept - no-way she'd get her hands dirty 'office-staff' type, when reality of admin is running around shopfloor!

I know. Alarm-clocks would need setting...
Know I could do it, know how I'd like to do it.
But don't really want it - just don't want her to have it!
