"Yes Virginia, there is a Renassaince Festival" That giggles me everytime.
Hey now, I was so busy writing up my comment on the Relay for that y'all got the jump on the VARF stuff.
It was a great day and I'm very impressed with the improvements they have made to the site. The pub was fantastic, and they seem to putting in a few permanent structures. There is a development fund that they are collecting for in the form of a raffle, good work guys. It really did make me think of the early days of MDRF and I think it will grow into something good. Think of it a faire in spring and in the fall wooohooo!!!
It was good seeing old friends like Pylgrim and Sestree, Flo and Will, Amras, Pepper, Cyn and many others. It was greeting meeting new friends like Robert and Amy and others. The mini llamas (ok ok alpacas) were soooooooooo cute. And there was plenty of shade at the pub and the wooded area of the faire.
I had specifically gone to catch the Pyrates Royale, they are some of the funniest and most talented folks I have ever had the fortune to meet. There is nothing like seeing them live and they are very good to just about anyone who wants a moment of thier time off stage.
The highlight of the day for me though was something that happend by accident. We had just left the Pyrate's last set and were trying to figure out what do. I suggested going back to the pub for a drink and we notice a very familiar figure on the stage. It was Master Will Paisly and he had his guitar. I had seen him onstage with a group of people earlier in the day and told Prax that we had to go catch Will. We went over and were able to see his solo performance. Damn Will has a voice, I was stunned and not only that but he did songs that you don't always hear. Great job on the new material and it was kinda cute seeing such a considerate and good man get so nervous.
Quote:(There were so many mistakes that it would've been a great show, had I been a master improvisationalist such as one of the Pyrates or O'Danny Girls)
Will, you do yourself a diservice, you did great and I expect you will get much better when your butterflys settle, just remember half the folks wont notice any mistakes and the other half wont care about them.
All in all a great day with great friends, exactly what faire is meant to be...
ps: Thanks to Darcy, Brad & Craig for the conversation, giggles, and everything that surrounded a fallen button; you guys really are the tops and I'm soooooooo tired.
faire,
