Saturday last week Rosemary and I went to another Sue's Soiree. We had a great time at the
January party. These parties are so good they have to happen every two months so people can recover, and Soiree X was no different.
This time, had to keep our tradition of classing up a joint. Rosemary was stunning in a new dress I got her at Lord & Taylor - look at the combination of lace and iridescent scaled fabric. And I went with gold-brown corduroy pants, multicolored shirt, deep red tie, and a white corduroy jacket. Sure, that was nice enough, but it was my pin - a peacock feather women's hairpiece that I repurposed - that
raised the flyness quotient and drew all the attention.
It's what got the keyboard player in the band to talk to us; the gypsy woman who walked in and immediately leaned over to say hello; the law student I bumped fists with; the
Terri Garr look-alike and her friend who immediately
demanded I dance with her once the music started; and two women in
evening gowns and for-real diamond tiaras.
All I could think of was Aziz Ansari in "Parks and Recreation" talking about peacocking (42 seconds into
this video). Either way, I was fly. Here's a peek into my wardrobe process.

We got there early this time, not wanting to squeeze our way through a dark, crowded room. My co-worker Aaron showed up later, and we made our way through the increasing crowd and talked to a bunch of people and made some new friends. I, of course, danced like mad and narrowly escaped cougar clutches. I get the "I haven't been out dancing in 25 years!" woman a lot at things like this.
Russell and Bonnie showed up later, and it was good to see them.
Some dude also tried to poach Rosemary, but she should tell that story. He was unsuccessful.
