I went to the doctor today to check out my belly pains. Good news: NO HERNIA.
At most, it's a muscle strain in the right oblique area, perhaps even a microscopic tear. Dr. Goldberg prescribed above-average doses of ibuprofen to control swelling, and no strenuous exercise of that area for 3-4 weeks, and the strain/tear should heal on its own.
The good news is that I can keep exercising. But my intense body workouts at the ESPN gym are on hold for a month or two. For now it's ellipticals, and maybe some weight machines on a limited basis. And I ned it; I've gained fat and weight again. In a couple of months I'll get a new program, perhaps take up some yoga to further loosen up my body so that I don't get this again.
My co-worker Mike drove me, and he ended up having to see Dr. Goldberg himself for a sinus infection. After I told him the news, we tried to come up with what my injury news would look like on the BottomLine, since we see injury reports every day.
We came up with:
ESPN BottomLine associate producer Marvin Pittman (oblique strain) expected to miss 3-4 weeks

work,
