I come home from grocery shopping (time to bake some more of those ricotta cheese cookies), and there's a Christmas card-shaped envelope in my mailbox.
I don't recognize the address. Who could it be? Who has my address, even? The handwriting is familiar, but I can't place it. I open the card, and I'm nicely surprised. Thanks
missamerika! This totally made my day. If you can make the party on the 26th, I'll have some cookies for you.
Next year I can't wait to have my photo printer, and I'll be making up plenty of custom cards.
Christmas plans are coming into shape. Rosemary is coming up tomorrow morning. I work Christmas Eve, but I may be able to get out by 11 p.m. I think we'll leave right away after I get off work, rest up at her place, and then go to my parents. Also, I just found out that my sister Nickie, brother-in-law Don and niece Destinee are coming. Fun times.
I may go see my uncle in Delaware (along with my grandmother, aunt and cousin) the day after Christmas, and Rosemary will get to meet my uncle and his family, and see my grandmother again. I will get time to spend with my parents on the 27th. More importantly, I'll get to see my mom, whom I never see when I am home while she's working. I think I'll take them out to lunch that day. Good to get family time in.
And party time, too. Looking forward to the 26th. I'm not sure who all is coming, but it'll be nice to see
babyraven, since we met my last night in Philadelphia and instead have known her mostly as words in an IM window. It'll be nice to get the real thing. Same situation with
deviathan, who would be nice to re-meet. We met once before, but I don't remember it. I think it was those heady days of meeting all Rosemary's friends at the same time, and they all blurred together. I got a couple of RSVPs from my old Philly peeps, so I hope to see some of my old crew.
OK, time to eat, take ibuprofen, bake cookies and pack. A lot to do in the next three hours before work. This day is really looking up, which is good, because work tonight is going to suck.
