Seamus update IV

I just spoke with his vet. It is likely that he has pancreatitis. An ultrasound reveals his pancreas is inflamed and his gall bladder is filled with sludge, making it difficult for bile to escape. It's unknown whether the pancreatic swelling is due to a tumor or any of the other possible causes listed on the reference site. (Indeed it appears that the underlying cause may never be discovered.) His bilirubin toxicity levels have dropped only just a little from Saturday.

He's eating, but not very much. He's choosing to urinate where he lays and not in the litterbox, which means he's still not feeling well. He's apparently still interested in his environment.

He's taking his oral antiobiotics and still is on the hydration program to keep fluids flowing. He's on special pancreatitis food (which I didn't know existed) -- apparently it's low in fat and high in carbohydrates. The vet assured me we'd be making dietary changes for him.

He's going to stay overnight again in the hopes that tomorrow shows a marked improvement. We're looking for lower bilirubin levels and a less inflamed pancreas.

I also learned that they have visiting hours! The hours are from 1-2pm and 8-9pm, though they can accomodate other hours by request. I plan on seeing the furry bastard tonight. He'll probably be looking for a file.

Here's the gratuitous picture of the little monster:
