So, I hemmed up the jeans. The machine was OK with it, apart from the inseams; those were simply too thick to allow the foot to ride over them, so I finished up leaving them undone; the sewing's secure, and the jeans look fine, so I won't bother doing that final part by hand. Yesterday, I looked at my favourite jacket and had a fright: the sleeves were coming away from the body. This was immediately designated Not Good, and so I was off on my travels today. My mum has decided to help me with a hat for Faire as well.

The pattern calls it a "King Edward VI Brimmed Beret", and it's knitted. From the photos, it's ideal...

I've taken some photos of it and shoved them here. Colour reproduction is pretty good.

I'm thinking I'll want to find something more interesting for paning...

My pin badge collection has gotten silly, really. So now it's displayed rather than worn, thanks to some nice webbing I found in the clearout and stuck my name on. However, there was a bit (heh!) more than I needed... and now I need to figure out what to do with the spare. Yes, it's yet another costuming post. This time, it regards my shirt. My mother has got a copy of Simplicity pattern #4219, which to my eye looks eminently suitable in the nice linen we have for this item. Because of the way my skin works, the only way I can avoid tanning is by living entirely underground. I usually wear a wristwatch. This means I have a fairly obvious pale band around my left wrist. My mum found two pairs of wool stockings she had hanging around she knew not why. JUST dark and weighty enough to not go transparent on my calves, and thus pretty much ideal weight for Faire weather.
