Good good... I have my patterns!

What this means is that at tomorrow's meeting, I can run the shirt and hat I already have past the Costume Tsar, and also get the patterns approved. I don't anticipate any problems with THAT, since they're based on actual research, from the standard reference and original clothing... I think it's safe to say they're accurate. If you're interested, they came from The Tudor Tailor; I have the patterns for "Tudor doublet, jerkin and venetian hose". The book looks interesting, but I'm going to have to hold off for a while on buying it. Once I do, I'm guessing I'll be offering to scale up patterns for people... the construction of my costume will be interesting, and I certainly won't be cutting up the pattern pieces; I'll be tracing, thanks. That way, I don't have to buy another copy if I put on weight, I can tissue-fit properly, I can add seam allowances properly rather than needing to chalk them onto the fabric, and if someone a different size wants me to run up a suit for them, I can probably do it (well, unless they're significantly thinner than me).

I also have some more paperwork to fill out, but I have enough motivation that my mild allergy to paperwork shouldn't present a problem. It's finally hitting me that this is Really Happening; this is home.

costuming, faire
