I made a Dollhouse icon. 'Cause why not. Adele IS made of win and she deserves an icon that lets the whole world know that.
Meanwhile, in the world of my cracktastic Buffyverse OTPs (I only have one or two... >.>), I wrote a bit of fanfic for Anya/Hallie, in an attempt to get them out of my system. Hopefully it worked, although I suspect my sudden obsession with this pairing isn't going anywhere.
Voila, it be
here Also, Donna is so dead.
I don't care that RTD says Doctor Who is a "kid-friendly" show. It's not SJA, people die. People have died in the past, in both the RTD era and previously. He killed The Master, who was admittedly a villain, but having the hero sobbing and cradling in the villain in his arms while said villain dies isn't really something that happens on kid's shows. It involves too much moral grey-area for that.
A companion's gotta die in the finale, because Ten sort of needs it. The man needs something to let him know that he needs to not be such a pompous jerk (albeit an adorable, lovable one). That companion cannot be Rose, because that would just be silly (although goodness knows what they'll do without Billie Piper for 2009).
It cannot be Harriet Jones. Okay, technically it can be Harriet Jones and because of that damn word "someone" it's actually a bit likely to be Harriet Jones. It could also be Mickey Smith. Or Jackie, I guess. But Harriet Jones is too cool, Mickey's too boring and no one really cares, and no one with a shred of narrative grace would kill off Jackie Tyler because she'd come back as a ghost and throw things at the showrunner who tried.
It cannot be Jack or SJS, because they have their own shows.
This brings it down to Martha and Donna.
BUT. Martha has a brilliant life all on her own without Ten. She's actually better off when Ten's not poking around screwing things up. Donna knows this very well. (Perhaps this was the purpose of having Martha back earlier in the season, just so Donna could learn this?) Also, though I haven't seen the Torchwood finale, apparently they killed off Owen and Tosh, so I wouldn't be surprised if Martha migrated to Torchwood and became a permanent member of that team.
Sidebar: if Ianto or anybody else from Torchwood appears on Doctor Who, I'll be pissy. Characters from the original show can appear on spinoffs, but not vice-versa. You didn't see Lilah or Fred showing up in Sunnydale to sex it up with Giles or hold on I don't watch a lot of spinoffs IANTO FOLLOWING JACK BACK TO THE TARDIS. Seriously, bottom line, RTD. BOTTOM LINE.
We're back. Where was I? Yes. Martha and her fabulous life. And of course Donna knows how incredibly in love Ten and Rose are. I could easily see some sort of situation where somebody's got to do something that will no doubt kill them and Donna sacrifices herself so Rose and Martha won't have to. This begs the question: why not let Ten do it because he'll regenerate anyway? Maybe he won't be there. I dunno. Point is: Donna's vast knowledge of past companions and their wonderful lives and her compassion is going to get her into trouble.
PLUS, the thing on her back (which per my icon she will pwn, but still...), and PLUS the scene in PotO when she asked Ten to take the song away and he didn't waffle or look down on her but instead respected her choice. If Martha, Rose, or Jack tried to pull some "I shall now sacrifice myself to save the world!" stunt, Ten would have a fit. But if Donna did it, he'd respect her decision because he sees her as much more mature than Martha, Rose, and Jack (which she... is). Even SJS couldn't get away with that, 'cause he'll probably always look at her the way Three and Four looked at her. (And yeah, I've gotten my mitts on a couple old eps with Four and SJS. Good times. Low qualities. Couldn't even figure out who Four's boy companion was (although I'm gonna hazard a guess and say they didn't have the same relationship Nine and Ten have with their boy companion!))
All this said, it really can't be Ten's fault if she dies, because then Donna's whole purpose as a companion would be defeated and plus she'd never let that happen. He must be blameless (and she invited herself into the TARDIS, so it's not even his fault she's with him - another reason I'll think she'll die and he'll be blameless).
New DW tomorrow (or today, really), and they'll finally get to meet Agatha Christie! Good for Ten - that was one of Nine's life goals, if I recall (or maybe it was one of Ten's life goals... I don't remember. One of those numbers). I'm super-excited. And shall update with a long rant about all the foreshadowing in the new ep telling me that Donna will die.
