We were scheduled to do 2.5 miles for our group run last night, but our coach didn't really seem to know where we were supposed to turn around. We ran from Auditorium Shores to the entrance to Barton Springs Pool and back, which turned out to be just a hair under 3 miles (2.94, according to my Garmin) - my longest run since the 5K two months ago! We're still taking walk breaks (roughly every six minutes last night, although she's not very good at keeping track of that either) and we stopped at the pool bathhouse so a couple of people could use the bathroom, so overall it was a pretty easy 3 miles. We averaged a 12:33 pace (I did stop my watch during the potty break), which is about what my regular, non-walk-break runs used to be. I'm definitely getting comfortable with going faster ... yea! And I really like the new bridges under Barton Springs Road - it's awesome not to have to go into the street.
When I was walking to Auditorium Shores to start my run, I saw Edward and Luna finishing theirs. I hung around with them for a few minutes, long enough to watch Luna swim and then roll around the dirt (her favorite thing EVER!), but I didn't have time to stick around and watch Luna play with the other dogs. Apparently I should have. She made friends with a basset hound, and, as Edward put it, "Watching a basset hound get into the play pose is HILARIOUS!!" I've been amusing myself all morning imagining what that must look like.
Next week's long run is scheduled to be 3 miles ... if we go over again, it could end up being my longest run EVER!
