It's 2013. Happy New Year.
Christmas was good, with my godson's family at their elder daughter's place in Manchester. This turned out to be within walking distance of
kalypso_v's house, so I meandered over there on Boxing Day for tea and cake and to inspect the stained glass and woodwork and discuss the Christmas Doctor Who (which I loved, for the record).
So now I'm home and facing the realities of life, which mainly involve clearing out enough stuff from the house to get it into a saleable state, and finding gainful employment. Both tend to occupy my thoughts rather too much in the middle of the night, so I find myself up and reading in the small hours to try and quiet my brain down. Reading London Falling by Paul Cornell, which is slow to get going but fun once you get to know the characters.
I sat down at the computer with the intention of listing stuff on Freegle, but instead ended up registering with another temp agency and doing this, which as displacement activities go are actually quite constructive.
