Christmas was good, with my godson's family at their elder daughter's place in Manchester. Finally found an agency that can actually get me temping work, with hope of an actual job in the next couple of weeks. Plus I can get a nice big tax refund from the work I did in the summer of last year, which will cover my credit card bill (mostly my car insurance, ouch) and mean that any money I do earn will go into the bank and not into the big ( Read more... )

Another day, another unsuccessful interview.

I can't get a basic secretarial job, I can't get a job for which I am qualified and experienced. What job can I get?

Didn't get that job, either. *is entirely unsurprised*

Turns out the Job Centre managed not to send my housing benefit claim to the council, and now it's gone, erased off the system. Which means I have to fill in the whole form by hand and go to the council and beg them to backdate it.

Why can't I just get a job? This is all so pointless.

Watched Troy last night, a film I have managed not to see up until now. It was, as expected, tremendously silly, but saved by the presence of Sean Bean (who managed to make it to the end alive, woo), Peter O'Toole, and a wonderfully over-the-top Brian Cox as Agamemnon.
