Bit ashamed to say this, but last time I posted was just before Redemption. Which was, um, February LAST year? Eek.
Anyway, hello LJ-land!
Lots has happened since then, main thing being I bought a house, my very first house, and I absolutely love it to bits. There's lots of responsibility I'm discovering comes with being a property-owning capitalist, but mostly it's fine and the benefits of being an owner-occupier far outweigh the annoyances of having to get stuff sorted myself rather than just phoning the landlord. Probably 2 years of mostly being in charge of Mum's house while I was caring for her gave me good practice at that.
I basically had the same temp job for more or less all of 2013, which worked out really well and meant that I ended the year quite solvent and able to take time off to head to Canada for a few weeks, which will happen in a week's time. Hopefully my clothes will be clean, because my washing machine has just broken down and won't be fixed til later in the week. Argh.
There is still fannishness in my life, very much so. I'm booked to go to Loncon 3 and also plan to go to Nine Worlds prior to that. Loved recent Doctor Whos, loving Sherlock. Saw The Desolation of Smaug, which I enjoyed far more than its predecessor.
What else? I want to post more this year, as I'm intending it to be somewhat more action-packed generally than last year, which was mostly taken up with moving house and settling in. So watch this space, it may have words in it occasionally.
