*@(%&# life!

o, as most of you probably know, 3 years ago, NAU got rid of my major of choice, Arts Management. I came across the idea after working as part of the choir leadership group in high school, most specifically my first 3 years there. Working behind the scenes of the arts - theatre and music specifically - has been one of the most fun/exciting things I've done yet in my life. 8 years I've been thinking of that.

But now that I'm trying to get my life back on track and trying to finish school, I'm running into issues. There are no programs in the state for arts management anymore. I've also begun to consider a degree in nursing, because I think I could do it well. It's also a lot more stable position, one that will always be in demand. So I'm torn between my two thoughts here. I want your opinions on which I should pursue...

Arts Management
Pros: It's doing what I love, Fun Jobs, fun locales (?)
Cons: Cheapest school is 9 grand a year, most more in the range of 16,000 just for tuition, the locations are far away -- schools I'm looking at vary from Moorhead, MN, to Wayne, NJ, I'm not quite ready to move across the country, which would put me at another year here just to be able to move out there, where ever there may be, I don't want to be a starving artist type all my life.

Nursing
Pros: Much cheaper, can live at home, job always in demand, pay pretty good, I can obtain the degree here.
Cons: Need to severely focus on school, long hours on the job, it's a thankless position.

My heart says to stick with the arts stuff, but my sane side says go for the nursing degree and see what happens, perhaps do arts stuff on the side?

What do ya'll think? I have to decide so I know what classes to take this fall!
