Teen Heroes Draw Praise and Criticism
By Daily Bugle reporter Kat Farrell
New York    Over the past several weeks, New Yorkers have reported seeing a team of teenaged vigilantes, with costumes reminiscent of various Avengers.  But their resemblance to Avengers do not seem limited to their costumes, but also extend to their powers.  From the armored ( Read more... )

He's seen it. He photocopied it, and then he thought collecting this shit might very well be asking for Grandma and Gramps to find out about his increased "study," time.

He still wants to keep it. His family has waited too long for recognition. For now, he's stuffed it in his pocket and is going to...meet someone so he can keep this up. Then his cell rings halfway there.

"Eli."

"Hey, Eli. You busy?" Of all the Young Avengers Eli probably had the busiest schedule.

The person he's meeting? Not the type the guys need to know about...especially not Kate...becuase, you know.

"Sort of, kind of, bro...What's going on?"

'Bro,' that's cute.

"I was just calling to see if you were busy tonight. Billy's throwing a party down at the warehouse to celebrate the...," it had just struck him that Eli might not have seen the article.

"Oh! Hey, did you see the article on us in the Bugle today?" He tried not to sound too eager.

Save his ass a few time and you qualify. Besides, for a mid-town white boy with stars in his eye about hero shit, Billy's okay.

"Yeah, I saw." He's trying to be level-headed about this, but the excitment creeps in anyway. "Tell Billy that I'm annoyed he got billing before I did." He's teasing, of course.

Teddy laughed audibly, "He may have got better billing, but at least you actually know how you're tied into this." It didn't bother him too much, but it would be nice to know exactly what that "temporal connection" was.

A $50, a hand off, and a moment of pause before answering. "Yeah, guess I do." The pills go in the same pocket as the article and both weigh a ton on his mind for a moment.

"And yeah, guess it would be," he says snapping out of it. "Party, huh?" Distraction good.

"Yep, and with how excited Billy is it should be a blast."

Eli sounded a little more distracted and distant than usual, and Teddy noted it, "You sure you're not busy?"

"I'm always busy," is the quick reply, and he is. "But you know, I should be with the crew tonight. Kate there?"

"Probably, though she's on Billy's list, so I can't say for sure. I wouldn't worry too much though. The party should be crowded enough that you two can avoid one another, mostly."

There is a thought about not avoiding Kate, but it's quickly pummelled.

"Give me as half hour. Gotta call Grandma and let her know I'm be out a bit. We low on something I can pick up?"

He smiles to himself, evident in the tone he uses, "Billy: Witch, remember?"

"So he's using his potentially vast comic powers to make Cheetos?" There's that Eli sigh of "what the hell are you doing and shouldn't there be a better use of your time?"

"I'm not sure. Name brands might be kinda complicated, but he could probably magic up something generic," he was just joking, or at least to his knowledge he was. He still didn't entirely get Billy's powers.

"I'll get a few slices he can't yet duplicate and be there in a half." He still has the sigh in his voice.

True to his word, Eli appears 30 minutes later with 3 pizzas to the party. Teddy and Billy are the types that would notice he's cleaned himself up just a little before walking through the door.

He hasn't cleaned himself up for long, though.

In his hurrty to bring Kate a plate of food, he doesn't really pay heed to Eli (cause, he's really important, right?) and crashes into Eli.

And the pizza.
