Last weekend, I drove up to New Paltz to visit Bianca for delicious food and antique shopping, so I took a few photos. We changed into natural kei and ate lunch at the
Village Tea Room, which is one of my favorite tea places even though it's 3 hours from my house. haha I usually get the Potato and Toussaint tart, but this time I tried the Gravlax Open Face Sandwich, with house cured salmon, cucumber, dill cream cheese, and organic sourdough rye bread. I chose my usual Pumpkin Spice tea, though. Everything was so good. You can see I already took a few bites of the cucumber sandwich to the left when I took this photo >n<;;
After lunch, Bianca drove us to nearby Hyde Park, NY to visit some antique shops. I took a few pictures of the
Hyde Park Antiques Center:
Bianca needs one of these little fur hats we kept seeing everywhere! Cute ♥
Koda, you need one of these to join your panther statue.
This was one of our favorite rooms!
I WANT YOUR SOUL
We went to a few more places, but I didn't take any more photos until dinner. We tried
A Tavola, a local italian restaurant, and really liked it! I had the La Belle Farm duck breast with sweet potato, leg confit, kale, and cipolini hash ♥ It was quite literally one of the best things I've ever eaten.
That night we watched Ip Man 2, which was awesome. A few of the fights had us scrambling up on the couch, pointing at the screen, and clutching our heads in a spasm of disbelief XD Conclusion: wing chun kung fu is the fighting style of GODS. My favorite scene of the series is still the "I WANT TO FIGHT TEN PEOPLE" fight from the first movie, but the sequel really holds up well in comparison.
The next day, we ate a delicious brunch at the
Main Street Bistro right up the street where I tried a tasty salmon hash (grilled salmon, poached eggs, tomato, scallions & home fries topped with asiago cheese & hollandaise), but unfortunately I didn't take any photos. Too busy eating. haha
After the meal, we headed to a few local New Paltz antique shops, including the Antiques Barn at the
Water Street Market. That place is a real treasure trove! This was my second time visiting, and I've found nice things both times. @n@ b
When we were all tired out from shopping, we watched
13 Assassins to relax:
I loved it. The suspense crept up really gradually and culminated in an epic battle with a death count that wrecked me emotionally-- just my kind of movie. When the movie was over, I changed out of all my natural kei layers and drove home. Good Eats Weekend 2012, you ended too soon. ;o;
Here are the things I found in various thrift stores, antique shops, and consignment stores Bianca and I visited:
Vintage fur tippet
Assortment of antique lace
Magnifying lens necklace (I plan to replace the Mr. T chain haha)
Creepy, creepy porcelain baby figurine
Two miniature illustrated books, one about flower language and one about heraldry
Not pictured up close are a small straw hat-- just the right size, not like one of those tiny clown hats-- and a long black skirt.
In other news, I just won my first Excentrique dress dress on y!j. I've liked this brand for a long time, so I can't wait to get this in the mail! Some of you may recognize the photo from Flasco's blog XD I can only wish it came with the Schwarz Schmetterling necklace haha
