Happy New Year

Jan 01, 2015 11:08

Not gonna post a record of what happened this year, partly because I don't remember, and partly because most of it was boring.

Picking up Dwight at the Flyaway station a little later this afternoon.

Working on the book reviews.  They should be done in a couple of days.

Heavy freeze last night-- frost on the grass and the cat water buckets were frozen over this morning.  Despite all, Gandalf must go out first thing to patrol the yard, even if it's still freezing.  He just doesn't stay out for long.

FurPlanet has the pre-order up for Griffin Ranger, if you missed the Kickstarter but still are interested in a copy.  I should have some copies left over after the con if you want to get it directly from me.  I'll post that info afterwards.

A couple x-posts from FaceBook, in case some people don't read that:

I went to the grocery store New Year's Eve to grab a couple things.  The woman in the self-serve checkout line got $20 cash back but forgot to take it.  As much as I need the money, swiping someone's $20 on New Year's Eve would be some seriously bad karma, so I was able to grab the woman before she got outside and return the money.  Happy New Year.

Tuesday I went to visit Megan in Brea, despite the forcast of a winter storm moving in that night.  We had a very "invigorating" hike at Carbon Canyon (invigorating as in I got so winded going up these steep hills I almost puked.) On the other hand, Megan got a lifer with a flock of horned larks we came across. I tried to leave a little early to avoid the weather, but as luck would have it I hit the storm full-force driving home. Well, that was a hairy drive.  I hit terrible rush-hour traffic, heavy rain, people speeding much too fast on wet roads, someone burned their brakes and nearly rear-ended me, the winds were so high they were rocking the car, and I ran over a tumbleweed. Just a typical days on the LA freeways.

weather, traffic, day-to-day life
