Updates: Police & Mantis murder
A couple of x-posting things from my Facebook, for those who don't do FB:
Well, Gandalf managed to eat the largest of the mantises last night. My own damn fault for forgetting to put the container out of reach before I went to bed. This is why I don't dare get an orchid mantis, as much as I'd like one. I'm not going to risk having my dumb cat eat a $50 mantis during a moment of carelessness. Of course, this is the same cat who turns up his nose at the expensive, gluten-free, grain-free, high protein fancy catfood, and prefers eating the cheap Cat Chow Dwight gets for the strays at his job.
For the first time evah I got stopped and searched my the police yesterday. I was at Hart Park taking my afternoon walk, and was stopped by an officer who said someone 'fitting my description' had been feeding the birds (!). After making me go through my purse to prove I had no food in it (other than a mashed and melted candy bar) I was sent on my way. Santa Clarita's finest, making Hart Park safe for everyone!
In a related police note, there was a guy who parked on our street and just sat in the car for nearly 4 hours this weekend. Someone called the police on him, and they sent two cars to chase him off. I'll agree it's kind of weird-- you don't just sit in your car for hours unless you're sleeping, stalking someone, or doing a stake-out. I'm kind of curious what the deal was, but I guess I'll never know...
I also recently discovered a favorite old-time author recently had a bunch of his books released on Kindle, so I was able to get the one book of his I'd never read. Happy day!
