I went to Castaic (lagoon) to take a walk, and discovered that the entire left side of the lake is fenced off. Because the water level is so low, it's too contaminated to swim in. What really gets me pissed off is the idiot, ignorant people who made this necessary. God forbid they just put a sign up saying Danger: do not swim or wade: water contaminated. No, because there's always the morons who can't read, or who think rules don't apply to them, and then would sue because their dumb kid got the brain-eating amoeba or something. So that fucks it up for everyone who just likes to walk on the beach.
I suppose I could walk on the right side of the lake, but I don't like walking there because that's where all the fishermen are, and parts of it are very rocky and difficult to walk on without falling. You do gotta wonder about people that would eat fish out of a lake with too much germs and crap in it to swim in.... I guess that would also be filed under idiot, ignorant and moron as well.
Somehow, every book about talking dolphins ends up being twee, even if it's touted as a book for adults. If there's dolphin sex action later, then maybe I'll revise my opinion.
Read another Silo fanfic. Not too bad, but I still found it hard to believe that Silo 1 didn't just terminate them before the story even started. Other Silos have been terminated for less.
I did get the latest Missing 411 book. The more I think about it, the more it seems these books would make an excellent TV series (documentary style, not drama). There's more than enough really bizarre vanishings to fill at least 3 season's worth of shows.
I've been completely off soda for around a month. (done for some reasons I don't really want to get into now.) Yeah, withdrawing off of caffine is a real picnic. (I don't like coffee or diet soda, so I might as well just go cold turkey.) I still crave it constantly. It takes a perverse deity to make things that taste so good and make you feel so good bad for you, and the stuff that's good for you taste so horrible it's a chore to even try eating.
