Herbicide Homicide

Mar 05, 2011 11:17

The DWP or some similar nefarious government agency sprayed all the fields behind the house with some sort of herbicide, so they're dead, dead, dead.  At first we thought maybe the bad frosts we had killed the grass, but the recent rains should have brought them back.  Instead all the fields from Magic Mountain Parkway up to Orchard Villiage are utterly dead, with nary a spot of green.  I'm sure (in their way of thinking) such wholesale grass genocide is the right way to do things.

Of course, the completely bare fields will be kicking up poison-laden dust that the workers (not to mention us homeowners) will have to breathe all spring and summer.  The barren fields already seem to be driving the gophers and ground squirrels into people's yards.  A boon for the cats, of course, but I also saw poisoned grain in the field left out for the squirrels, plus any chow-hungry dog or curious toddler that happens by.

People are such idiots.

This morning my siatica and back pain were so severe when I woke up I ended up breaking down and taking some pain medication.  At least that managed to bump the pain down from "bad" to "tolerable."  If i thought seeing a doctor would do any good I'd go, because I'm sick of being in pain constantly, but as far as I know there's not a whole lot to be done for this, except take pain medication, and hope it resolves on it's own.

Went to bed past midnight and woke up (by cats) around 6 AM.  So very, very tired...
