John and I have closed on a new to us house. It's about the same vintage as we are, maybe 3-4 years younger on the east side of NASA. I'm sure I'll be happy about it eventually but this week I happen to be sick and behind in packing and just generally panicky about the situation. I decided that we should at least try to find a house to buy before time runs out again. Sometimes I despair of getting out of the nasty house that we are in now. Life in Houston is mostly settling down these days. Working remotely has become more routine, but the traveling back to Austin seems to make time go by so fast. It's nice that I get 2 weeks in a row in Houston this time around ( Read more... )

Over the weekend we developed a water leak. The rug started showing up wet near the entertainment center. Haven't figured out where it is coming from yet. Hopefully the guy won't have any trouble figuring it out when he comes this afternoon. On top of that, the work they did on replacing rotting wood on the garage backfired.
