++ New Editors. One review of the new album said it was a "raw, more stripped down sound." Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I call bullshit. The album is synth-y, wall-of-sound goodness from start to finish. Love it. LOVE. And "Papillon" is totes the best one. And the video is perfect for it. (Also found a Tïesto remix when I was blipping it, which is also fantastic.)
++ It's finally fall here. FINALLY. We had a huge wind storm last Monday (which I did not get out in as much as I would have liked, due to the sickness, but still got to listen to it, which was great. It dropped the temperature from the 80s on the weekend to the 40s by Tuesday. It was 50 degrees downstairs in the house when I got up that morning. It was awesome. Perfect for burrowing under the covers and sleeping away the ill. Had a lovely rainy day for the farmer's market on Saturday. Where, weirdly, the farmer I bought my squash from turned out to be a former classmate from high school. It was a super good squash too. :D
++ Speaking of squash.. PUMPKIN! The second best part of fall is all of the pumpkin products. Shipyard Pumpkinhead is still the forever and always pumpkin king of my heart, but there have been many other yums as well. Ichabod's is still good, and new to me this year: Lakefront Pumpkin Lager. Also new this year, but decidedly gross: Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale (like Miller Light, but with pumpkin. blech.), and the limited edition, too sweet offerings of Pumpking, and Smashed Pumpkin. And on the non-ale front, walking by Jamba Juice today resulted in the happy discovery of the Pumpkin Smash Smoothie, which was heavenly. (Just finished one. Hee!) I love the fall!!
++ New shows: A few weeks under the belt with all of them.. Love Bored to Death, like The Vampire Diaries, jury's still out with Flash Forward. The latter, I really want to like, but.. meh. I don't know. It'll take a couple more episodes to decide for sure. Other than that.. it's been kind of a monumentally dull premiere season, particularly compared to the last two years, which each had so much to at least be excited about, whether they proved to be winners or not.
++ Old shows: Fringe owns my soul. Dollhouse premiere was wonderful (though the second ep. was a bit lackluster). Supernatural continues to be at its absolute best.. "The End" was possibly my favourite ever episode. And Sons of Anarchy. Criminy. That show kills me dead (though I will say that s2 isn't quite as tightly-written as s1). Everything else has been goodish, but not really rocking my world.
++ Last, but never least: ZOMBIELAND!!!! I loved this movie so much. If you like that sort of thing, I can't recommend it highly enough. It fully exceeded my already high expectations. I seriously just walked from the theater on a delighted cloud. It was hilarious and scary and awesome, but beyond that, there was just such a genuine and unexpected sweetness to it. So much love. See it!
