Mac had found herself a seat on the sofa next to Cally, and was half-heartedly attempting to do sudoku from the newspaper. She was being, maybe, even quieter than usual.

"Mmm." Mac nodded with a little smile at Veronica. "Missing a number," she said tapping the paper in front of her.

"Uh huh," Veronica said, giving Mac a look that indicated she knew her friend was being avoidy. "Maybe you need another cup of coffee."

"Okay. There's plenty of vegan goodies in the kitchen if you're hungry," Veronica reminded her. "As your hostess, its my job to make sure you take good care of yourself."

Mac smiled a little, and nodded. "This is me taking care of myself, promise."

"You're definitely doing a good hostessing job," she added. "Not forgetting to feed the guests is the first step."

Veronica reached up and patted Mac's leg. "Everyone is safe. You did a good job last night."

Mac sent quick smile at Veronica. "We sure know how to party in Neptune, huh?"
