Mending broken hearts (6/10)
It’s already been a while since Hyunseung last confronted Junhyung. Time seems as greedy as he is, every day goes to and end without he has time to notice, as if the whole universe agrees that a day without seeing Junhyung isn’t worth it. Hyunseung is facing his mirror and frowns a bit. The fact that he looks like a high school girl doesn’t occur to him. All he needs right now is some sign that his clothes are okay because he’s gonna see Junhyung in a few hours and now that the man is a stylist he just can’t appear before him carelessly dressed, right? He takes off his black skinny pants and looks at the huge pile of pants on his bed when his phone vibrates. He lifts the device from the night stand and flips it open reading the text he received. He smiles.

Hyunseung immediately texts back before staring at his bed again.

Anyway he can’t be that mad at you... I told you not to lie to me keke
Hyunseung can’t remember when he started texting Yoseob (actually Yoseob is probably the one who initiated it) but the fact is they text a lot since then. Thanks to the younger man’ s talkativeness Hyunseung knows about almost every thing Junhyung does every day. He also knows that Junhyung scolded Yoseob for giving Hyunseung his address, not that he didn’t expect it anyway. What surprises Hyunseung the most is that he and Yoseob don’t talk about Junhyung that much, they actually get on well. Yoseob is one funny kid and they like similar things. He can’t repress a chuckle when he thinks about the longest text conversation they had, about ice-cream. They still have to go grab some together and then Hyunseung will prove his point that chocolate flavor isn’t as good as any other.
He changes again once or twice before finally being satisfied with his looks and waits until he receives another text from the blond saying that Junhyung was on his way and would arrive in about an hour. They don’t talk about Junhyung that much, really, but Yoseob does help fate, or at least he helps Hyunseung getting closer to the other, that includes arriving at the same time at work.
The last time they met on M. Park’ s office a few weeks ago when he wanted to give them to final schedule, Hyunseung arrived just after Junhyung and he managed to put a note in the other’ s pocket. He knew it was childish but he also knew Junhyung would somehow like it. As they were all talking around the table, Junhyung found the paper in his pocket and read it, Hey Junnie, like I said I’m sorry. Forgive me already you know I need you as much as you need me :) he didn’t really blush, nor did he really smile but Hyunseung knew he felt something, cause he felt it as well.
Hyunseung’ s been rehearsing for a bit more than two weeks and he is quite satisfied with nice, hard-working and actually friendly dancers he works with. They usually meet around six in the evening and stay up all night because days in July are way too hot for them to dance properly but today M. Park asked Hyunseung to meet him early in front of the theater they’ll use for the show and Yoseob told him Junhyung was appointed as well. He decides to leave early and heads to the theater. He just arrived when he hears someone calling his name.
‘Hyunseung-ah! You’re here!’
He turns his head and looks at the man who stands up from the stairs he was sitting on.
‘Hi, Kikwang-ah’ Hyunseung replies with a wave of his hand ‘you’re early’
‘So are you’ Kikwang answers with a smile ‘actually I was bored, I don’t like being alone at home’
‘Ah’ Hyunseung nods in agreement ‘but don’t you live with someone?’ as he asks his question he frowns a bit, he’s pretty sure Kikwang told him about a roommate, a friend, a lover or something but he really doesn’t remember.
Kikwang sighs. ‘Yeah, but these days I always wake up alone’
‘It’s not my fault if you work all night and sleep all day, is it?’ a voice that Hyunseung doesn’t recognize tells.
Both he and Kikwang turn around and face two men.
‘It wasn’t supposed to be like this’ Kikwang answers with a pout and steps closer to the taller man of the two ‘Still you could wake me up and say goodbye’ the tall blond chuckles and wraps his arms around the shorter one.
‘From now on I will’ he says and leans down kissing his boyfriend. Kikwang fights the making out session he craves for and pulls back.
‘Oh Seungie-ah! That’s Woonie’ he says to Hyunseung with the huge smile of his. His boyfriend chuckles again shaking his head.
‘The name’s Son Dongwoon’ he says.
‘Hi, Jang Hyunseung’ and the other nods.
‘I know, I’ve heard about a you’ he looks down at Kikwang arching a brow ‘A lot’. Kikwang slaps him playfully on his arm. ‘Oh! I don’t know if you know each other I’m sorry’ Dongwoon adds looking at the man with whom he arrived.
‘We already met actually’ the man answers looking at Hyunseung with a smile. He’s the one with spiky hair Hyunseung met in M. Park’ s office. The one he doesn’t recall the name. As if he read his mind, the other speaks again. ‘Yoon Doojoon’ and Hyunseung smiles shyly.
‘I’m sorry, I was quite distracted’ he explains.
‘I kinda noticed that’ Doojoon replies still smiling. ‘Did you catch him?’
Hyunseung isn’t sure he heard him well. ‘I’m sorry?’
‘Never mind, it’s none of my business anyway’ Doojoon simply replies.
Hyunseung feels uncomfortable with the older male, even more after he recalls Doojoon winked at him last time he saw him. He decides not to think about it more that it’s needed and look at Kikwang and Dongwoon again. It’d be easy to change subject if he asked Kikwang anything about him.
‘So, are you working on the show as well?’ he asks Dongwoon even if he’s quite positive the younger male does since he was with Doojoon in the office the other day.
‘Yes, I’m in charge of the music with Doojoon-hyung’ Dongwoon answers while his head is resting on Kikwang’ s shoulder, his arms around the older’ s waist.
‘Actually, Woonie was in before I was’ Kikwang informs and Hyunseung tilts his head, silently asking for an explanation. ‘He and Doojoon got the job really early’ and Doojoon nods.
‘This show’s been in M. Park’ s head for a while now’ Doojoon adds ‘he called me a few months ago as he wanted us for the music’ and Hyunseung nods.
‘So Woonie asked me to try out for the show as well’ Kikwang speaks again, his eyes smiling as he stares at his boyfriend.
‘Oh, I was wondering why I had never seen you before, but you’re not part of the school right?’ Hyunseung asks.
‘Nope’ Kikwang starts.
‘M. Park wanted his lead dancer to be a pro’ Dongwoon adds smiling and Hyunseung chuckles at the scene. The younger looks so proud when he says it, his arms gripping tighter around Kikwang’ s waist.
‘Dongwoonie and I always try to work on the same project since we moved together’ Kikwang speaks again and Hyunseung congratulates himself in his head for the diversion, he realizes the younger could speak for days about him and his precious boyfriend.
‘Oh really?’ he asks amused.
‘Yes. That way we work at the same time and we can rest together at home! Isn’t that brilliant?’ Hyunseung can’t help but to laugh.
‘It is’ he answers.
Kikwang keeps on talking about Dongwoon and their lives, telling Doojoon and Hyunseung about some funny stories that happened to them, the two of them just shaking their heads in agreement or slightly laughing at the younger. Slowly, without they notice, people start to gather around them in front of the theater but that’s only when they hear M. Park’ s voice that Kikwang stops talking and they all turn around eyes scanning the crowd. The said man appears and greets them before climbing two more steps in order to face everyone.
‘Welcome everyone’ he says and smiles warmly as usual. ‘Thank you for coming today. I want to show you where our show will take place. Let’s head inside’ as he waves his hand, asking them to follow. The four men along with others follow the director inside, Hyunseung constantly shakes his head from left to right looking for Junhyung. He finally sees him staring blankly at a wall waiting for M. Park to talk. He leans closer to Kikwang and whispers.
‘I’ll be right back’ and Kikwang just nods and smiles before turning his attention on Dongwoon again.
Hyunseung leaves them and makes his way through the crowd trying and reach for Junhyung, Doojoon’ s eyes follow him all the way. Hyunseung stops right besides Junhyung and smiles at him. The other barely nods signaling he’s aware of his presence but doesn’t look at him. M. Park claps his hands asking for attention.
‘So. Here we are. Please look around and remember this place well. All of you need to know the stage perfectly if we want the show to be an unforgettable one’ M. Park says. As the crowd splits into small groups heading to different parts of the place, M. Park joins Hyunseung and Junhyung.
‘Ah, Hyunseung-ah, I’m glad you’re here. Do you already know each other?’ he asks noticing Junhyung.
‘Yes, we do’ Hyunseung answers.
‘Ah, that’s great. I want you to...’ he trails turning his head, it seems like he’s looking for someone. ‘Ah!’ he turns around ‘Gentlemen please come here’ he says and Hyunseung realizes he’s talking to the three men he was with earlier. They all form a circle around the director. ‘So, it’s important for you to know each other, because you’ll have to work hard together’ he says looking at each of them. ‘Hyunseung-ah, I want you to talk with Doojoon and Dongwoon about the music you think you’ll need, but I also want you to listen to their advice, they’re good’ he adds and Hyunseung nods. ‘Doojoon-ah, you and Dongwoon have to write a list with all the music you think will be necessary, let me know if you need musicians, materials, and if you want to use popular songs please tell me as soon as possible, I’ll take care of the rights and all’ he continues and they both nod as well. ‘Junhyung-ah, I want to ask you something’ he looks at Junhyung.
‘What is it?’
‘I know it isn’t what I’ve hired you for but I need you to attend rehearsals. I want you to pay close attention to what Hyunseung and the dancers do. You have to get them stylish outfits but you’ll have to consider their needs too. I really don’t want one of them to rip their pants on stage’ and finally Junhyung nods as well. M. Park turns his attention to Hyunseung again. ‘I want both of you to talk about it and everything will be fine, okay?’
‘We will, sir. Don’t worry’ and he smiles at Junhyung. He can’t be more happy about the idea of spending rehearsals with Junhyung, knowing that the younger won’t have the possibility to walk away.
They spend about half an hour in the theater before M. Park allows everyone to leave, telling them he’ll call them for the next meeting. They are still together and the five of them head to the exit when Kikwang asks happily.
‘What about sharing a drink together?’
Dongwoon doesn’t need to answer, as if he can do anything else than follow his now bouncing boyfriend. Doojoon shrugs, showing he isn’t against the idea but Junhyung immediately mumbles something.
‘Actually, I gotta go’ and starts to walk away but Doojoon grabs his arm and both Junhyung and Hyunseung gasp in surprise.
‘Oh no, you’re not going anywhere’ Doojoon says smiling ‘You heard what director Park said, we need to become friends to do a great job, so stop being selfish and come already’
Kikwang and Dongwoon laugh at Junhyung’ s confused expression. Hyunseung feels relieved and mentally thanks Doojoon. Junhyung hesitates a bit but Kikwang lets go of Dongwoon’ s hand and takes his instead.
‘Come on! It’ll be fun’ he pulls him forward. ‘I swear we don’t bite’ he chuckles and the little group head to a near cafe, Kikwang forcing Junhyung behind still holding his hand. They enjoy the rest of the day together, even Junhyung laughs when Kikwang makes a fool of himself. All in all he’s happy the younger forced him to come as he realizes they’re all really friendly.
That night, he heads to Yoseob’ s instead of his place. The younger is surprised but soon he’s happier than ever when his friend tells him he’s not mad at him anymore and they spend the night together watching horror movies as they used to do after a fight.
