The book I refer to throughout the fic is "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich. The chapter/section titles start out as references to certain locations, but descend into randomness and then into lyrics from Jónsi's cover of MGMT's Time to Pretend and Jónsi's own song, Stars in Still Water. The title of the fic is also from that song.
