Ready for quilting, almost.

I just finished the basting on my son's quilt and got it off of the floor. I used a combination of pins and thread. I ran out of pins. I had forgotten that I haven't done a quilt this large before. I must buy more before getting to my daughter's quilt because her's is almost king size. The middle is all pinned so if I have to I'll just move those pins to the part I thread basted.

I have to say, thread basting is a whole lot easier than pin basting. I've machine quilted some with thread basting before and it is a bit of a pain. I cut or held down each thread I had to cross. I need to find a way to thread baste that doesn't get in your way of machine quilting and doesn't take longer than pin basting. I'll just have to let that idea stew around in my head for a while.

I hope to get a height adjustable table from IKEA Friday or Saturday and set that up behind my machine to give me more quilting surface. If not I'll just use my ironing board while I wait for 2 weeks, and another paycheck, to buy the table. I think it will be another must for working on my daughter's quilt comfortably.

My thread won't be here until Saturday. That's actually surprisingly quick since I ordered it on Sunday and the shipping was only $3 and some change. I can't wait to get it and try it out on my mini test quilt for tension. I may not start the actual quilting until Monday or Tuesday. I think I'll want to make sure I have ample uninterrupted time to get a satisfying amount done.

I still need to get a solid black for the binding and I forgot about the label!!! Oh wow! I don't even know what I'm going to put on it! Back to the web to research.
