We just came back from getting my son's stitches removed and he got a clean bill of health and was very brave. I'm so glad that's over. As soon as it's all healed and the scabs come off, 5-7 days, he can get back into the pool!
So, now that I've gotten my "new" machine up and running I've wanted to see what it can do so i pulled some things out of my WIP pile.I used LJ's pic posting utility in the scrapbook but I don't like how it left so much space below.
Sewing Machine cover
for my Singer Rocketteer. It only has a layer of patchwork and one of denim so not technically a quilt.
This was a new project because I noticed all the dust on my machine. The patchwork is from a
pattern on
The Quilter's Cache here. I'm using the leftovers to make one for my "new" machine. This is basically finished, I just want to go buy some binding for the bottom.
Labrynth Quilt A
My first try with fusible bias and labrynths. Quickly finished to get out of the WIP pile.
This quilt is horrendous up close but pretty in a picture. I wanted to do it all by hand but got tired of it, so I quickly stitched the last several bias strips down. Then I practiced some hand quilting on it but got tired of that and put it away, so I machine quilted it with my new Necchi BU and attached bindings. It has a lot of potential as a project that I will do again and be more fussy with but with machine quilting as I go. My husband hand dyed the blue background fabric. It is now on my wall.
Pooh and Tigger throw
quickly finished to get out of my WIP pile.
This one was supposed to be a hand quilted cheater quilt for my nephew. I started it before he was
born, he's now 4 ^_^ It is one large panel and I hand quilted three of the squares before I put it away.
I took it out just recently to use my new darning foot on and try my hand at free motion quilting. Wow
is it hard to get used to. I just read a site that said it takes 20-25 hours to get the hang of. I can't wait
to practice more because it is a skill I want to acquire.
potholders
quickly finished to get out of the WIP pile, that's why the binding doesn't match on one.
These potholders have been sitting around because my other machine, a Singer 503a, couldn't quilt
through all the layers. There's the patchwork, from the Quilter's Cache I think, 2 layers of dense
cotton batting, and heat reflective silver fabric. My Necchi BU went through it like a knife through warm
butter. Then I added the bindings and it still sailed right through it. My first finished
project on my BU.
So that's what I've been doing lately. Sorry for the bad photos. I went through all of these in the last week! I have one more UFO that I want to get to soon. Then I need to get on the one for my daughter that has been sitting around waiting for a batting and a machine strong enough to quilt it. And maybe for the weather to get cooler as its very large and flannel both front and back.
