Customer: "Where are the weiner dog calendars?"

I have hired six people so far for the kiosks, and have another person interviewing Tuesday.

" Do you have any books on Japanese suicide?"

I'm assuming he meant kamikaze pilots, although I've also heard of Japanese businessmen jumping out of skyscrapers due to overwork. I took him to the history section.

Lately I've had customers looking for travel guides to imaginary places. One woman wanted a guide to the Shangri-La. She wouldn't believe me when I told her it wasn't real. Someone else wanted a book about Babylon, which technically isn't imaginary, but it doesn't exist anymore, and at any rate, "Babylon" seems to be used mostly metaphorically

Today I yellled at a teenage boy who was all "ooh, ooh, do you have Hustler?" (We don't, but we do have Playboy and several other nudie mags, although I doubt this guy was old enough to buy them, and he was in the company of two teenage girls who looked underage as well.)
