end of summer

N. heads back to school on Tuesday. He's got new clothes and shoes, and a hair cut. He has a free day with his grandma tomorrow, and we're going to the school this afternoon to the Ice-cream social. There's a meet-the-teacher hour tomorrow, too. He's looking forward to it, but at the same time, he's unhappy that summer camp is over. He's learned to swim and ride a horse, and improved his ice skating quite a lot. Everyone he talks to asks him what grade he's going in to.
At the grocery store this morning we each one of us met someone we knew individually within about 10 seconds. A. ran in to his chiropractor, who was followed by a girl from N's school, and coming the other direction was someone from Dark-Blue-U that I've worked with. It was very funny. Small-town syndrome.

We went swimming for 3 hours yesterday, and my foot was sort of OK at the end of it, but this morning at the grocery store I had to ride in the electric cart, which always makes me grouchy.
