We just got back from Thanksmas - A's mom's brother hosts a family gathering between Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, usually this first weekend in December. We have the standard turkey dinner and fixings with some xmas standards thrown in, tons of desserts, and a few presents to open at the end. There are several late November and December birthdays as well, and we're raising the next generation - 5 cousins related in various ways from age 14 down to 7 months. We met the newest of these cousins today, and he's a doll. The older cousins call him 'Butterbean'. He was extremely interested in Nate's trains, but Nate wasn't as keen on sharing as he thought he would be, since Butterbean tried as hard as he could to eat said trains. My mom came along too, and she had a good time as well.
Speaking of trains, on our way down and back (Thanksmas is in Columbia, SC), we stop at the
North Carolina Transportation Museum every year. Usually we buy tickets just then and get on the train, but tonight they were sold out before we got there. We did watch the train go for a while, and Nate got over his disappointment, especially after his dad asked if we could come back for his birthday, which is next weekend.
