Redundant archer questions

Aug 11, 2006 00:35

Okay guys, I have three weeks of vacation before college starts up again, and I decided to spend it making a definitive myth-busting archer thread on Basil Market. I need some help though with what topics to talk about, errors in my math, field testing, etc. Especially if you're an archer, please take some time and read through it, and tell me ( Read more... )

DS vs. AB: It all comes down to a matter of choice. smacksaw August 11 2006, 05:28:36 UTC
Not really. Objectively they do different things. You cannot combo off of DS. Because you have to wait for 2 hits to register, whatever you're doing stops there. Things can advance on you ( ... )

Red Viper VS Vaulter 2000 smacksaw August 11 2006, 05:43:26 UTC
I've seen that debate as well, and I am so sick of the English-speakers who talk about Bowman because they have no idea what they are talking about and spout off all of these retarded calculations that have no basis in how you actually play the game ( ... )

Speed VS Jump smacksaw August 11 2006, 05:47:33 UTC
Always scroll your shoe for Jump to get the DEX.

I didn't know this was a debate.

The only thing I can say for Speed is that you can jump farther. If you care about jumping, Speed is still good...if you care about damage, Jump is good for DEX.

Unfortunately, common sense in Maple is a rather fickle thing. As a level 37 Hunter with AB, I don't have firsthand knowledge of the 3rd job. That's why I asked for help, after all.
Common sense doesn't help one bit in this scheme of mine. It's similar to the scientific method: I am abandoning all of the assumptions made by previous theorists (who, as Smacksaw pointed out, have bias and don't know half of what they say), collecting data and testimonies, and forming a new, refined theory from it. I am missing a step, field testing. But there are enough people that have done the testing already, not scientifically, but close enough.
Anyways.
I know this comment came before Smacksaw's rebuttal about monster DEF, so I won't belabor it. But I want to point out that Arrow Blow, with a core 260%, can do up to 360% in one hit, but each individual Strafe shot, starting at 100%, can only do 200%. Not good enough to Knock Back the higher-level monsters.
