(no subject)
Yay I got a widescreen LCD monitor from parents for my birthday, now I can do dual-screen =D =D =D It's very useful for drawing, and for MSN windows XD Also got a tiger puzzle and Lego (!!) from my boyfriend. I just need to clean my room so I have floorspace ^^;;
Oh yeah, I picked up my Haro =D Thanks to some awesome English instructions I found on the comm, and a bit of Japanese classes (telling time is very useful XD) I got him working =3 .. he needs AAA batteries, and I had to steal borrow some from boyfriend's DVD remote, and had to give them back. So I need to find my own batteries today (I didn't think about batteries, I have a whole bunch of AAAs at parents' house... DX). And then I'll take pics (I brought my 1/100 Dynames from home so he can meet Haro =3 still needs to be panelled/painted though...)!
It was a good birthday. I had ice cream cake (that I ended up having to stuff down the next day 'cause I can't carry it back since it'll melt). We could only find 3 candles, but that's okay, 'cause we represented 21 in binary (10101) XD *is CS geek* . It even stopped raining long enough for me to beat my bf at play badminton ^^
And at night, we tried to set off this wish lantern thing my parents got from China. It took some time to get it working, but we managed to get it to lift off. However, it was somewhat windy still and as soon as it took off, it blew away from the backyard and into a neighbour's tree. We got so scared it'll set the tree on fire, and then the wind blew it away again, across people's backyards >_< And we were so scared it'll start a neighbourhood fire... but the paper thingy isn't as flammable as I thought it'd be, and the wax burned itself up and fell onto someone's driveway (as my mom found the next morning)
And went to see fireworks last night for Canada Day. It was wet, and they delayed it for some time, but it was a nice show.
Oh yeah, so on July 1st morning, I got a phone call from work, and the HR person is like, "so you're not coming in today?" And I was like "WTF isn't today Canada Day?" and she was like "yeah, but we actually take the Friday off." And I was like "what?!? Nobody told me this..."
And I actually asked one of the HR people (not the person who called though) like a month ago 'cause I was trying to make plans for Canada Day (parents went camping this weekend and asked if I could take the Friday off and go with them). And I got told that because I was a Co-op student, I don't have any vacation time, so I had to take the Canada Day holiday on the day of, ie on the Wednesday ('cause I asked if I could move holidays or whatever). So I was told I get the Wednedsday off, and nobody told me we (ie everyone in the company, ie it shuts down) get the Friday off instead of Wednesday...
So yeah... I didn't get in trouble for it, 'cause I guess it was a misunderstanding or something... but I also don't get paid.. >__> Oh well, I didn't really want to rush back here after my birthday anyway... but now I get tomorrow off as well. I'm fine with the holiday and all, just a little pissed that not only did they give me the wrong info (or at least the impression of it), they didn't inform me of this... and the fact I get one day less pay...
Oh, not work-related, but I woke up shivering again this morning. Seems that roommate turned on the AC again (to like 21 degrees!!!), and it's not even hot outside!! @#%@#$^ At least I closed my window, and I hoped it was already cold so that the temperate thingy didn't turn on the AC all that much during the night anyway (and waste electricity). And then there's the pile of dishes that's been there since Monday...
