Windows 7 and Other Small Things

So I am back up here on the mainland for training. I went through my what do I bring up here twice and found out three things:
1. I can't bring up the old 15" MacBook Pro
2. I almost purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro, but size and weight are still a concern
3. I needed a new PC and could not wait for Steve Jobs to perfect whatever he is working on with a 10" screen, so...
I purchased a Toshiba NB200 Mini Netbook with Windows 7. the decision was tough because I have had such big issues with Toshiba laptops, but the keyboard really makes the difference for me. As a whole, this is probably the best Toshiba laptop I have ever used.
I waited until last Thursday to purchase this because I wanted to see if I could get something with Windows 7 on it. As an OS, Windows 7 does feel like a step up from XP and definitely cleaner than Vista. It lives up to most of the hype that reviewers and some Beta Testers I know spoke about, but it is still a PC, not all of the ease of use I have with my MacOS.
I did a few simple tests with the new netbook over the few days I have owned it. Speed is not an issue to me because I can't use if for a lot of the things I rely on my Macs to do due to the screen size. Of course 3 years does make a big difference in processor and overall system speed. Compared to my laptop for work, the mini seems to have some speed, but it may be due to the face that a lot of resources come from the servers instead on from a local USB or internal hard drive. The first test was to check on my Sprint Wireless 3G card compatibility and it works very well. Next, I attached it to my newer LCD projector and it was almost plug and play, but the picture is surprisingly good. Another test was using the netbook on the plane to test the battery usage - and it performed well, but not quite up to the nine hours advertised. I watched the movie Cars in iTunes and the DVD from Journey's album Revelation while on the plane and the netbook was connected to a laptop cooling pad as well as an external USB hard drive. I also had the netbook with the 3G Wireless card reading e-mail and posting to Facebook. By the time I got to plug in the netbook, the battery said it was down to around 20%. More testing will follow over the next few days.
Hmmm.. It is midnight here and I need to get some rest, so I will post more later.
BTW, part of getting this netbook was to get me back on journaling again (either here or on another program) and it is working...
