Okay, I had a pretty shit week last week.
I got rejected by both Fordham and Rutgers ON THE SAME DAY. I tried holding it in for most of the day, then my dad asked what was up, and I just broke apart. I couldn't believe how crushed I felt that the two schools I felt I had the greatest chances of getting into just outright rejected me so curtly. Dad and my Aunt Gege both withdrew from Fordham's Alumni Association, which was incredibly sweet of them.
I'm still holding out hope against hope for the University of Georgia, which is and has been my #1 choice.
I'm still sending out resumes for a job without luck.
I'm pretty disheartened right now about pretty much all of it. I wrote next to nothing in my novel, because I just didn't feel I'd do my characters justice...
All of which is why Scott and I went to see I Love You, Man on Saturday. His week sucked, too, and we definitely needed the abundant laughs from that movie.
My mom treated me to a new dress yesterday for the Shakespeare Theatre Annual Gala at which I've volunteered to help on Saturday, which was awesome of her. It's "Sugar Plum", but it's more a lighter eggplant color, if you ask me, with wide sleeveless straps, rouching under the bust, and a flaired skirt that comes to the knee. I couldn't find shoes, but I think my black kitten heels will suffice.
Mom also scored me a pair of free tickets to a play called
Melissa Arctic on Friday, which is based on The Winter's Tale, was produced by the Folger Library in '04, and may or may not be a musical. It sounds interesting, and, best of all, it's free.
