So, alas, we didn't get to meet Martin Scorsese or the Rolling Stones. :(
The "Meet & Greet" was literally this: Heads of IMAX say how awesome the Stones and Marty are. Give the mic to Marty. He thanks IMAX and says he's excited about the film, hopes we enjoy. Mick, Ronnie, and Keith (!!) come out from the hallway. Everyone goes nuts. Mick says he loves the film, that Marty made them sound even better than they do live, and he hopes we all enjoy. Ronnie says hello. Keith mumbles something.
The end.
Then we watched the movie.
Which was really exciting, but major sensory overload for me. The spots that were reserved for us were in the front row...right in front of a 7 story tall IMAX screen.
By the end, Scotty P had a headache from all the cutting/sweeping shots, and I felt nauseous from the same and the pounding bass.
But I would see the Rolling Stones live without a doubt. Now I know why their tickets are $300 a pop. Not that I'd pay that much for them, but if someone got decently priced ones, I'd be there in one hot minute. And I don't even really like them. They're just that good live.
Just, hopefully, Christina Aguilera isn't there again (as she was in the concert movie). Or at least that Mick doesn't rub up against her with a dirty-old-man smirk again. Ick.
It was also filmed at the Beacon Theatre in New York, which was weird, because Scott and I were just there last summer seeing Chris Cornell. And, at one point, the camera was in the audience at about exactly the same point we were sitting for that show. And, what with the über-massive screen, it looked about the same persepective. Just in 2-D.
