I've decided I'm not a good artist. I just...don't like what I draw. I'm sure other people would compliment (though I think to be nice, not that it's actually good), but I'm not pleased with anything I draw anymore. Everything comes out very cartoonish, but not stylized. And stylized is cool; simply cartoonish just looks...juvenile. Maybe it's because I end up drawing things really fast or that I don't work from models, but meh.
I feel similarly sometimes when I write, but it's a much more consistant feeling of blah with my drawings.
I've also spent waaaaaaaay too much money on music recently. B&N has this 40% off coupon for all CDs in stock this weekend. So, I picked up:
~U2 - The Joshua Tree 20th Anniversary Edition (Super-Deluxe 2CD/DVD) - Yeah, I know...*rolls eyes at self*
~Johnathan Rice - Further North - He co-wrote all the songs with Jenny Lewis (they're dating), and these are the kinds of songs that should have been on the latest Rilo Kiley album. Exactly the kind of twangy indie-rock I want when I'm driving around during the spring with the windows down.
~Sting - ...Nothing Like the Sun
~Nick Drake - Pink Moon
~Switchfoot - The Beautiful Letdown - Don't judge! It's really, really good. Kind of like Live meets the Smashing Pumpkins. And they aren't really Christian - they're "Christian" in the way Live or U2 or Lifehouse are. Plus, it ended up being $4.85.
~Mad About Baroque
~Mad About Piano
~Handel's Water Music
OH! And I can't believe I almost forgot!
I'm going to a Meet & Greet with Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese tomorrow! Scott texted me that he got passes for it and a screening of
Shine a Light, the new concert film of the Rolling Stones Scorsese directed. So, we're going! And, if we actually get some face time with Scorsese, Scott wants to ask him to cast him in his next movie so he "can shoot Matt Damon in the face, too" and I want to pitch him to do an adaptation of Julius Caesar (Italians, power struggles, betrayals, and violence? Right up his alley!). :)
