"Splendors you never have dreamed will be yours"

Do I like traditional Irish music now simply because it's so familiar from childhood? Or is it really just genetically encoded after a certain age?

The GRE Literature in English exam is a week from Saturday. I'm just this side of terrified.

Baseball started!!! Granted, it's still not that warm out, but my boys back in pinstripes means it's only a little while longer. And they do cut dashing figures, don't they? ;)

My mom has also decided it should be my mission in life to meet and marry Derek Jeter. I told her I'd definitely be the one wearing the pants in that relationship. Fan first; wife second. Our wedding song would be "Whip It" by Devo, because I'd crack that whip. His ego would be forever diminished if he married me.

Going to see the reunited Stone Temple Pilots in May with Scotty P (because he's pretty much my concert buddy for the rest of eternity). $20. Not bad. Waiting on his response to whether or not we want to see Rilo Kiley in June. I love that band, but I really don't like their new album, and they're sure to play mostly stuff from that. But I've never seen them live... Okay, so we're going to see Rilo June 3, too.

Waiting on my copy of this to ship from the Amazon Marketplace. And I got Sweeney Todd yesterday. *happy*

And, on a related note, does anyone know of any songs inspired by literature? I'm trying to make a mixed CD. I'm looking more for pop/rock/standards than anything written for an adaptation (no musicals, operas, or movie themes). They can be based on the work in general (Kate Bush - "Wuthering Heights"; Dire Straits - "Romeo and Juliet"), characters (Sting - "Moon Over Bourbon Street"), poems set to music (Rufus Wainwright - "Sonnet 29"; Carla Bruni - "Those Dancing Days Are Gone"), or even about writers (Ryan Adams - "Sylvia Plath"). I'm just coming up a wee short and would like some imput from you lovlies.

yankees, music, concerts
