Chap-20 Ohno yawned widely, stretching his tiny arms and legs out before looking around sleepily at his surroundings.
All the members of Arashi were currently on a plane to Okinawa. They had the option to take a boat there, but it was Sho who pointed out that there would most likely be a lot of people there- at least they could have the option to take a private flight. It would be best if the public didn't find out about their trip and tried to crash it.
"Aw, I see someone is tired." Aiba cooed, wiping away the tears that had come out of Ohno's eyes when he yawned. Ohno shifted a little in his arms, letting out another yawn before promptly going back to sleep.
"I wanted to sleep in also." Nino grumbled, shuffling in his seat as he stared out the window.
Aiba insisted that they wake up at three in the morning so they could take the four o'clock flight to Okinawa and arrive there at around 5:30a.m. By the time they get to their campsite, they would be able to see the most beautiful sunrise.
The other three members merely groaned at that, but nevertheless got up at said time and made their way to the airport. They were envious that Ohno was able to sleep through everything- he could be mistaken as a sleeping doll with the way he barely moved or made a sound while they changed him and drove to the airport, checking in their bags before getting ready for take-off.
"I'm so excited!" Aiba squealed, balancing the sleeping baby in his arms as he looked at the magazine that Sho was looking through.
"It's says that the winter season is the perfect time for camping in Okinawa- it's not blazing hot or freezing cold and there aren't many people around. We'll most likely be alone," Sho commented, making mental notes on everything that he was reading.
Aiba clapped his hands. "I heard that we will be able to see the whales there."
Sho frowned. "I don't think its the right month for whale watching."
Aiba frowned at that. "Really? Oh well, that's fine- I'm sure there'll be some animals we can see. I heard that Okinawa has a lot of exotic birds."
"I'm sure a snake or two will pop up as well." Nino pointed out, smirking as Aiba stuck his tongue out in response.
"So all our accommodations and equipment will be provided?" Jun questioned, shifting in his seat to look back at Aiba.
"Yup. We have a car waiting for us with all our stuff. And I have directions to where the campsite will be." Aiba answered.
"Oh god, we're gonna get lost." Nino groaned, sighing loudly.
"Hey!" Aiba exclaimed.
"Don't worry- I also know the directions to where we're going. We'll be fine." Sho assured him.
Aiba pouted a bit before brightening up again. "I can't wait till we get there. We'll have so much to do! I promise, you guys are gonna love it!"
Nino yawned before snuggling into his seat more. "For some reason, it hasn't even started yet but already I feel exhausted."
When the plane landed, they gathered their things and put them in the large four wheel monster truck-like car that was waiting for the. Like Aiba had said, there will camping equipment and supplies packed neatly in the back of the car. With Sho as the designated driver, they made their way to the campsite.
The road was a bit bumpy but as soon as they drove over the sandy paths, the truck began hopping up and down- making the members jump in their seats every few seconds.
It's wasn't too bad, definitely not dangerous enough for them to fly out of the car- but the constant jumping made Ohno wake up. The tiny baby didn't mind though as he gave out tiny shrieks of laughter every time they jumped, making the others laugh as well (which Ohno's laughter also thankfully helped distract Nino as he had started to get motion sickness). The car drive was almost an hour long so Aiba kept them all distracted by singing car tunes (which annoyed the hell out of Jun and Nino who would have killed him if Ohno didn't join in as well).
Finally arriving at their destination, everyone got out of the car and looked around at the place they would be staying for two days.
Their campsite was indeed near the beach, but they were a few feet away from the rocky sand and surrounded with the beautiful forest, the ground with nice soft grass where it would be safe for Ohno to play on and there were tall trees around that served as a cozy cover to protect them from any of the extremely bright sun rays that might break out during the day.
"Guys, look!" Aiba pointed out excitedly.
Since the ocean was also nearby, they had the perfect view of the sunrise. And even if the members saw many sunrises before, this sunrise was definitely one to remember.
The sun was just peeking out of the ocean, coloring the clear waters with a mixture of light blues and purples. The shining orb was colored with shades of yellows, deep orange and had a bit of red on the very edges. The sky around was still a warm amber but as the sun slowly rose into the sky, it turned lighter, almost pinkish until it settled into a very light whitish blue.
It was breathtaking.
Aiba leaned into Sho's warm embrace, their eyes still on the sun. Jun stood a few feet away, leaning against a thick tree while also looking at the pretty scene in front. And Nino had somehow found one of the foldable lounge chairs that was in the car, set it up and laid down, all while Ohno was in his arms.
"Pwetty..." Ohno murmured, staring at the sun and ocean as if he was being hypnotized.
Nino made a sound of agreement as he snuggled the baby close to him, letting Ohno sit his padded behind on his chest. They all continued to watch the sun rise for a few more minutes until it was high into the sky now.
Aiba blinked as he swirled around in Sho's arms and looked towards Nino. "Was it worth waking up early?" He asked in anticipation.
Nino was feeling so comfortable in the lounge chair, the light breeze blowing through and Ohno lightly bouncing his butt as he chewed the tail fin of fishy, that he couldn't find it in himself to make a sarcastic remark at that moment. "Yeah. It was." Everyone chuckled at the bright smile that was on Aiba's face then- it rivaled the sun that they had just watched.
"Okay, now that we got the Nino-approval, let's set up camp!" Jun announced, pushing himself off the tree and headed towards the car.
Aiba had told them during the flight that he decided to go the old-fashioned route and wanted to use tents instead of just staying at a rented cabin or whatever. So while Sho was now in charge of setting up the large mustard yellow tent for all of them to sleep in that night, Jun and Aiba took out all the camping stuff from the car and laid them out so they could see what they had. Nino and Ohno continued to stay in their lounge chair (Nino refused to help and Ohno wanted to stay with him).
Whoever packed their camp gear made sure that they were fully prepared for everything. They had the sleeping bags, pots for cooking, eating utensils, fishing rods, ropes, medical kits (for adults and infants) and many other things. They even found some bottles of oxygen that people used for hiking.
Putting down the heavy cooler that was filled with food (though Aiba argued that they shouldn't use any of it and instead should choose to live off the land- the others immediately vetoed this), Jun sighed and looked at Nino. "Do you plan on helping out at all?"
Nino sent him an amused smirk as he shook his head. "Nope. Besides, there's an interesting show that I find very amusing. I call it, 'Man vs, Tent'." He gestured towards Sho who was unsuccessfully trying to assemble the tent. "The tent is winning by the way."
"Shut up!" Sho complained, trying to shove one of the tent rods into another rod. Muttering curses under his breath, he began nailing the tent to the ground so it would stay up.
"Do you want any help, Sho-chan?" Aiba called out, setting up the rest of the lounge chairs around Nino's area.
"No, I got it!" Sho declined the offer. Managing to get one part of tent standing, he wiped off some of the sweat on his forehead and smiled. "There we go."
The other members had to bite their lips hard when a sudden very light breeze came through the air and caused what little Sho managed to accomplish with the tent to be sent crashing down. Sho groaned loudly at the destroyed tent pile.
"I'll help him with the tent." Jun snorted, making his way towards the distraught newscaster.
Nino was snickering as he adjusted the chair a bit so he was now at a 45 degree angle. He grabbed Ohno by the hands and carefully pulled the baby up, Ohno's tiny legs standing up with just a tiny wobble as he balanced himself on Nino's thighs. Ohno squealed as Nino helped him move his body side to side.
Aiba cooed at the sight. "Awww...so cute! I wonder when Satoshi will learn how to walk? It would finally give us a reason to put shoes on him." Ohno didn't like to wear shoes (or anything else on his feet for that matter).
Nino hummed at that, his heart thumping a bit when Ohno's legs gave out and he quickly moved to make sure that the baby wouldn't slide off him. "Whoops! Got him. Yeah, I think it'll be a while till he can walk." Nino said.
Ohno turned around in his lap and looked at Nino. "I can walk!" He told him.
Nino lifted an eyebrow at him, smirking. "Really? But how can you walk if you can't even stand up by yourself?"
Ohno now pouted. He didn't like not being able to do something- he wanted to be just like the other Arashi members and do what they could do. "I can!" With that, Ohno became fussy as he tried to get off of Nino and go on the ground. Nino followed his wishes and gently sat Ohno down on the nice green grass, glad that they dressed him in black overalls.
As soon as Nino let go, Ohno immediately shifted around until he was on his knees, facing Nino. Grabbing a hold on the lounge chair, Ohno used his baby strength to pull himself up. Leaning dependently onto the chair, Ohno tested his chubby legs as he made sure that they were firmly in the ground, not noticing the wide looks from Nino and Aiba.
With his feet firmly on the ground, Ohno let go of the lounge chair. Unfortunately, instead of standing up like he wanted to, his little legs gave way and his bottom hit the ground. Blinking, Ohno's eyes started to tear up.
Seeing this, Nino immediately started to make a grab for him. "Oh, Satoshi. It's fine- come here."
"Wait!" Nino paused as he looked at Aiba. Aiba shook his head at him before walking up to Ohno. Kneeling before the baby, Aiba smiled gently. "It's okay Satoshi- this is probably your first time trying to walk. It's okay if you can't do it on your first try." Aiba assured him. "But you shouldn't give up- you should just keep trying."
Nino smiled at those words as he directed Ohno towards him. "Even if you try and try again and still end up falling, it's okay. Because you know what? There will come a time when you'll finally be able to do it."
Aiba nodded. "In the meantime, why don't you try again, ne? Don't worry- this time, if you fall we'll definitely catch you."
Ohno blinked away his tears, feeling much better. Smiling at them, he nodded. With a determined look on his face, Ohno made his way once more to the lounge chair and attempted to stand.
Aiba and Nino caught Ohno a few more times when the baby ended up falling on his butt again and again. After the fifth fall, Aiba had to leave to help Jun and Sho with the tent (the tent was still not up but this time Sho was panting on the forest floor while Jun was having a mini tantrum as he kicked furiously at yellow fabric).
Ohno only managed to stand up for about two seconds before he again dropped down again. Nino decided to take Ohno in his arms when he noticed that the baby was getting tired. "I'm so proud of you Satoshi." He cooed, cradling the baby in his arms.
Ohno frowned at him, his eyes sparkling in confusion. "But I no stan. I onwy faw awot."
Nino smiled at him. "Yeah. You did fall. ALOT. But no matter how many times you fell, you always got up again. And that is what makes me proud."
Ohno smiled happily at that. "I twy to walk waiter." He said with determination in his voice.
Nino chuckled as he leaned in to give Ohno a peck in his forehead. "Okay. And I'll be there to catch you."
Ohno giggled as he also gave a wet kiss on Nino's cheek. They both began having a kissing war- Nino showering the squirming Ohno with kisses on his belly while the baby pulled at his hair in laughter.
When Ohno's tummy began growling, Nino stopped as he listened to it carefully. "I guess the tummy monster is hungry. Let's go feed it." Ohno giggled at Nino's silliness but grabbed onto Nino's shoulders as they made their way to the others.
"Nice." Nino commented, looking impressed at the large yellow tent that was finally up and standing. It was big enough that all five if them could fit inside comfortably.
"Yup! It was pretty easy to set up." Aiba told him, both Jun and Sho groaning at that.
"Yeah, yeah. Just shut up and help me out with the sleeping bags in here." Jun snapped, throwing a bag at Aiba. Sho had given up on the tent long ago, letting his boyfriend deal with it, and was now making an organized list of all their supplies.
"Satoshi here is hungry- is there anything to eat?" Nino asked, remembering that they didn't have breakfast yet. They were so busy that morning that they also forgot to feed Ohno his bottle.
"We can have canned bread, yogurt, granola and jerky for breakfast- it's light and doesn't require cooking at all." Sho answered, gesturing toward their food pile. "We also have the portable milk warmer here- Jun already made a bottle earlier and it's still warming up. Should be done in about five minutes though."
Nino nodded. "Good. Let's eat then. I'm starved."
All of them sat on the large logs that were circled around a piles of smaller logs (it was already set up when they got there, and they assumed the pile of logs was where they could set up the fire and cook later). Eating their breakfast, they talked about what the activities were for that day (the other members threatened Sho about making another one of his crazy, hectic schedules- they wanted to relax!).
"Well, since the weather is nice out, I suggest we go swimming and maybe do a bit of fishing." Sho said, taking a sip of his juice.
"No way am I getting into that water- it may not be snowing but it's still chilly here." Nino huffed, munching on some cream-flavored canned bread.
"Aw, Nino. You're no fun." Aiba whined, spooning some yogurt into Ohno's mouth.
"Pneumonia's not fun." Nino shot back.
"Don't mind it, Aiba- Nino's just pissed that you forced him to leave his games at the house." Jun pointed out, taking a sip of hot coffee (they found a large thermos filled with the black heavenly drink).
"I'm still not going in that water." Nino said with a voice of finality.
"That's fine. You can go fishing by the shore." Sho said, trying to prevent any arguments.
Nino nodded at that while Aiba spoke up. "Satoshi's boat is also here and it's so cute!" Johnny had indeed gotten a baby-sized boat for Satoshi. It was about three feet long and one and a half feet wide, with white and brown stripes painted on with mini-sized oars that were also included. There was only a rope that was attached to the boat where the adults could pull on, making the boat move. "I can't wait to put him on it."
"Tank wu gwanpa Johnny." Ohno thanked, opening his mouth for the bottle of milk in Aiba's hand.
"Such a polite boy." Aiba cooed, pressing his lips to Ohno's hair as he placed the nipple in Ohno's mouth.
"It's cute, but I wished it was big enough for all of us to fit in it." Sho agreed.
"Ugh, boats? Seasickness? No thanks." Nino groaned, turning a bit green at the thought.
"I can't believe they make stuff like this." Jun commented, observing the boat with a certain look in his eyes.
Nino grinned as he recognized that look. "I'm gonna say it now, J. There is no freaking way that boat is gonna float with you in it. It'll be the Titanic all over again."
Jun smirked. "500 yen."
Nino returned the look. "You're on."
Sho shook his head at them. "At least let Satoshi try the boat out first, okay?"
After their meal, they all finished setting up their campsite before grabbing all their beach equipment and making their way to the beach.
Nino sat on one of the rocks on the shore, a fishing pole in hand, as the others changed into their wetsuits (they didn't want to go with only trunks and risk freezing to death). They dragged the boat into the shallow water until it floated. Ohno was nicely bundled up in a nice puffy dark green jacket as the members placed the baby in his tiny boat. Ohno squealed loudly, looking at the water in excitement as the boat began to rock side to side.
"Now Satoshi, I want you to stay in this boat and make sure you don't get wet, okay? We don't want you to get sick again." Sho told him, looking at Ohno with serious eyes.
Ohno nodded, reaching out so he could lightly pat the older man's face. "I pwomise. I stay hew onwy." Sho smiled as he turned to place a light kiss on the baby's palm.
"Ahh, it's cold!" Jun yelled out, shivering slightly as he splashed into the water.
Aiba followed and also let out a loud shout. "It's cold but refreshing." They made their way to Ohno and both of them grabbed onto the rope and started pulling the boat out to sea. Ohno clapped his hands happily, giggling the entire time.
Sho smiled at them as he went into the ocean. Letting his body adjust to the water's temperature, he looked towards the shore to see how Nino was doing.
Nino had ditched the rock he was sitting on and instead was lounging lazily on his chair (Sho would have to make sure when they leave that Nino didn't take the chair with them). Nino laid comfortably with his fishing pole in hand and a large bucket at his side for his catchings. There was also a net nearby to also help him grab the fish. "You doing alright, Nino?" Sho called out to him.
Nino hummed, totally relaxed. "I take it back- camping was a great idea." Lying down, doing nothing with the cool air breezing through but not too cold as a few of the sun rays were beaming down on his skin. And he also had a large bag of chips on his lap to snack on with some hot tea in the cup compartment of the chair that he was seriously falling in love with. His mind was clear of work and other stressful matters- the only thing he thought about was when the fish would bite. After weeks of stress (especially this past week), Nino was so comfortable that it felt like he was in heaven.
Sho snorted. Nino did look like the picture of a human who was in utter contentment. "We'll be right here. Good luck on the fishing."
Nino waved him off. "Leave dinner to me." They decided that anything that Nino caught would be cooked for dinner- they decided to eat the food that was already pre-made for lunch and they could set up the fire for later that night.
Ohno shouted happily, laughing as his boat floated through the water, being pulled by Aiba and Jun who were almost resembling Dolphins by how they were swimming. "Fasser! Fasser!" Ohno yelled.
"Got it. Hold on tight, Satoshi. Aiba kick harder." Jun called out, feeling exhilarated as adrenaline pumped through his veins as Ohno's giggles fueled him to go even more faster.
They swam until the other end of the beach, pausing only for Sho to catch up to them and taking over Aiba's place so he could catch his breath, before Jun and Sho swam back to where the originally were.
"Keep go!" Ohno urged, watching as Jun and Sho floated, panting hard while they kept their hold on the boat to ensure that it wouldn't tilt over.
"Just. One. Minute." Sho gasped, moving a bit so his feet could touch the sand below.
Aiba swam up to them, in a much more leisure way, before grabbing the rope. "You guys can let go- I'll handle it." He told his other members. When they let go, he grabbed one of the mini oars in the boat and held it out to Ohno. "Do you want to row the boat, Satoshi?"
Ohno's eyes absolutely sparked up at that as he readily took the oar and with a little help from Aiba, began to row the boat. Aiba cheered him on as he discreetly pulled the boat, making it seem like Ohno was moving it all in his own.
Row, row, row, your boat,
Gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream~
Aiba and Ohno sang together as they swam through the ocean's water. Sho eventually joined them as Jun began swimming a few laps around on his own.
"Masaki, Satoshi, look." Sho pointed down at the water. There were lots of fish that were swimming a few feet below. They were far enough that they couldn't touch them, but close enough to see.
"Fishy!" Ohno exclaimed, a look of awe on his face.
"This is so cool!" Aiba said excitedly, giving Sho the rope as he immediately dunked down in an attempt to swim with the schools of fish below.
Sho chuckled as he watched his boyfriend chasing the fish as he looked up and checked if Ohno was wet anywhere. Miraculously, Ohno was still nice and dry.
"Are you having fun, Satoshi?" Sho questioned the baby.
Ohno smiled up at him and nodded happily. "Yup. I wuv da oshin! Wanna swim?" He asked, looking at Sho with his puppy eyes.
Sho chuckled and for the first time, he didn't fall for the eyes. "Sorry, Satoshi. I would love to but the water is a bit cold and we don't want you getting sick again. Maybe later, you can go fishing with Ninomi. Would you like that?"
Ohno pouted a bit but nodded. "Wan to go fwish wit Kazu waiter."
Sho smiled. "When we go home, I'll let you go swimming in the bathtub- the water will be nice and warm there. Okay?"
Ohno looked excited as he nodded furiously at that. "Yay! Papa pwomise?" The baby held up his pinky, looking at Sho with wide eyes.
Sho grinned as he pulled one of his hands away from the rope and wrapped his large pinky around the little one. "Papa promise." With a kiss to their joint pinkies, the promise was sealed.
"Waaahhhh...the fishes are so ticklish!" Aiba squealed as he floated up, making his way to them. "I swear, one of the fishes were laughing at me- it kept trying to swim up my nostrils!"
Sho laughed as he gently squeezed his boyfriend's nose. "I'm sure it's because they knew how lovable you are and couldn't resist being near you." Aiba grinned brightly at that as he gave his boyfriend a tight hug.
"Mama see fishy?" Ohno asked, using one of the oars and started hitting the water with it.
Aiba nodded. "Yup. The fishes here are so beautiful. I think they're used to contact with humans since they didn't swim away from-ahh!" Aiba spluttered as Ohno accidentally hit his oar hard enough that a wave of water came his way, hitting Aiba's face.
"Oops. Sowy, mama." Ohno couldn't hold in his giggle as he apologized. Aiba was about to assure the baby that he was alright before he noticed his lover laughing up a storm beside him.
"Hahahaha! Sorry Masaki, haha, but your face....hahaha..." Sho laughed, his hold on Ohno's boat making it rock a bit.
Aiba's eyes narrowed at that before an evil grin appeared. With one hand grabbing onto Ohno's boat, he used his other hand to send a large wave at his boyfriend.
Sho, still laughing, didn't notice and immediately began screaming as wave over wave of water hit him in the face. A water fight began between them, with Ohno also joining in as he hit water towards whoever was unlucky to get it.
As the water fight ended, all three were laughing as they started to calm down again. Aiba looked towards the shore to check how Nino was doing.
Nino was still on his lounge chair, but this time his fishing pole was stuck between his legs as his hands were free to read one of Sho's newspapers (he was probably reading either the entertainment section or the comics). He also had a can of beer in one of his hands as well.
Aiba turned to Sho and Ohno and whispered quietly to them. "Ne, why don't we go splash water at Nino? Some ocean water will definitely freshen him up."
Before Sho could reply, Nino's voice suddenly called out to them. "If you guys get even a drop of water on me, I swear I'll get one of the axes that were packed in the car and I'll turn your manhoods into womanhoods." Nino said this in a voice as if he was discussing the weather, his eyes never leaving the newspaper he was reading as he took another sip of his beer.
Aiba looked at Sho with shocked eyes. "How did he hear us?!" They were a good few feet away from Nino and Aiba had been whispering.
Sho shrugged, also looking surprised. "It's Nino. It's best not to question it."
Aiba frowned as he decided not to follow up with his plan- knowing Nino well, he would definitely not hesitate to do as he had threatened.
Looking around, Aiba sparked up again as his eyes caught Jun- who was currently taking a break from swimming laps. "Never mind Nino. Lets target Jun-kun instead!"
Ohno clapped his hands as he grabbed his oar and began rowing his boat, with Aiba and Sho's help, towards their youngest group member.
