[Oh snap, that voice. She knows that voice. But the sudden rush of relief and excitement that follows the recognition takes a nosedive in about the same moment the video feed does, and despite the fact she should probably be used to his stunts by now....yeah, there's a very concerned noise on this end, Altaïr, good job.]
[Out of habit and for the sake of the new environment? The video is keeping away from him but he is more receptive to the voice, all things considered. ... Guilty about the stunt? .. Not really.]
I could show you, if you wish. It is not as danger as it looks. [.. Teasing. Maybe.] Anathema, where are we?
Tempting as the offer is, I try to avoid leaping off of buildings myself. [No. Teasing doesn't make it better. No matter what the small, relieved smile that crosses her face might say. She takes the hint, though, from his insistent avoidance of the camera, and refrains from actually using his name.]
We're....honestly, I still don't know much more beyond the basics myself. They call it Mandalus. [And the more she does learn, the more she wants nothing to do with it. But that's a rant for another time.] Where are you? When did you arrive?
I thought so. [The amusement in his voice is apparent.]
So I have heard. I am in one of the sections, by a more noticeable building. [He moves the camera to give a view of Sanctuary, then returns it to the ground.] Where are the others, what is the reason for this?
[ Welp, guess that's why she was asking about Altaïr. Desmond decides to quickly answer the message, though he has the sinking feeling that this ancestor isn't going to recognize him. ]
You're in a place called Mandalus. These people called the System bring us here to help them fight what they call the Serpent. If we don't kill it here, it'll eventually destroy our home worlds too.
[ Desmond pauses. Time to get the awkward out of the way, he guesses. ] Hey, Altaïr.
[Pause. Because wait. Like it or not, he remembers you. Briefly. Your appearance is familiar, but that's... Hm.]
What proof is there, and how can you be so sure that our homes are in danger? [Despite him not showing himself on the feed, his pause is visible.] ... Desmond.
At this rate, I'm fairly certain I'm going to need to build a perch up there if any more of you climb up there. [ Despite the chastising look, there is a smile on her face. It's a miracle the assassins don't kill themselves when they jump off of that spire for the Sanctuary. ] Welcome to Mandalus. Make sure not to trip off any of the alarms as you run about.
[ A smile spreads on her face. ] All too familiar. Quite a few of you with that hood enjoy how high the Sanctuary Spire goes. I imagine it gives you all quite a good view of the city.
