i was slightly amused to see that our road looked like an aqueduct this morning. i was less than amused that the arse-end of wakefield had flooded meaning a queue and a navigating-by-hunch diversion back to an accessible junction of the m1.
i was NOT, however, amused that my entire 35 mile journey to work took FOUR HOURS!! or that it used up nearly a quarter of a tank of petrol and i spent at least 2.5 hours petrified the beast was going to explode.
not content with most of the journey being in first gear, i thought the end of the fear was within reach (meaning the petrol station at meadowhall) when the overhead sign announced the sodding junction had been closed.
i sacked the queue for the next junction as the outside lanes had started to move, but the fear got to me and i cut up a lorry to get off the motorway and got to a petrol station in brinsworth before the beast died.
as a final twist, the lights on to the roundabout at the end of brinsworth road were stuck on red and everyone felt the need to wait a "suitable" length of time before just using the roundabout AS a roundabout, presumably so they could assure a policeman that the lights really were stuck *cries*
turns out the river don has burst its banks...
this annoyed daytime post is brought to you by the sure knowledge that the i.t. guy is offsite and my boss has nipped out for his lunch. and because if i get the same crap on the way home i'm going to bed and not getting up again all weekend!!!
