Boo Update
Boo will be 3 years old next month. Frikken wow.
Will be expecting the inlaws next month for a 10 day stay at the Bare Ranch in part to celebrate above birthday and a chance to experience island life, such as it is these days with the weather playing silly bugger with us. Hopefully that nonsense will be over by the time they get here.
Boo has almost completed her potty training - with various encouragements and a few accidents we have noticed the same pattern as with other stages of her development...slow at first but once the momentum is going - look out! The last hurdle has been, of course, the overnight stretch. However it seems that more and more she's waking up dry in the mornings and after naps. We got her a 7 pair set of Disney Princess painties and that seems to have really encouraged her so all in all we are quite pleased.
We also took down the protective 'gate' or whatever you call it to keep kids from rolling out of their beds. So now she is in her 'bed' and not a crib....even though it's still the same piece of furniture. She is so proud of being a 'big girl' now and wants to help with everything - even getting Mommy dressed in the morning.
She is REALLY talking alot now, which is both a blessing and not. My brother aptly put it that once they start to talk, they quickly learn to talk back. He said it with a bit of a grump but I try to take a more philisophical view of it. I do not want my kid to be a push over. Her attempts to assert herself are taken in context and depending on what it is she is trying to 'prove' will merit the response I give her. I also do not want to squash her blooming spirit, but I certainly do not want to be the 'parental rug' whose children just run over them either. I am still alpha bitch in this pack and that's not going to change until she moves out and becomes alpha in her own right. But that's a relationship dynamic for another day.
