Picked ten books. In retrospect, got a couple more that I should've put on here instead... :)
Pride and Prejudice - aka the book I never want to read but once I start I can't put it down.
Reflections on a Mountain Lake - recommended by my mom, an excellent light read on Buddhism.
Passing - I read this for college, and I don't know if I've donated the book already, but to this day I still remember the title and some of the scenes.
Comfort Woman - Also read this for college...this was horrific and gut-wrenching, and I don't think I can read it again, but once again, something that I can't forget to this day.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - my favorite 6th grade memory is our teacher reading this to the class.
The Hobbit - once again, Mr. C reading this to the class. Even with the full LoTR books and movies with all the amazing CG, it still doesn't quite match up to the funny voices he made or the way he made every scene vivid and suspenseful.
Captain Marvel: In Pursuit of Flight - It's a comic book, but an amazing comic book with some deeply poignant lines. (and deeply funny ones too.)
The Hound of the Baskervilles (and all other Sherlock Holmes stuff) - took me about 10 years to get around to finishing it, but. Sherlock Holmes stuff in general is awesome.
The Belgariad - my favorite fantasy series.
Guns, Germs and Steel - another book I read for college. Probably the one I would've dropped off the list if I had remembered my other favs in time.
Others that should've made the cut:
Caves of Steel - my favorite Asmov/sci-fi fantasy.
Old Man and the Sea - A book I read in both English and Spanish, and really moved me.
The Hatchet/Island of the Blue Dolphins/The Black Stallion - formative years reading!!
Wow, I need to do more reading...
