Who: Shadow and YOU Where: Entry hall When: Day 2 What: Shadow arrives and begins to explore Warnings: Shadow is grumpy and make get annoyed with you. He shouldn't be too bad though.
Nina had come running at the weird, loud noise. It was a symptom of childhood, really, when she should definitely be going in the other direction for sure.
She peered carefully around the corner leading into the entry way, eyes wide and curious, hands clutching the wall. "Hello?"
She ducked back behind the corner as the thing came closer, it looked kinda like a doggy, but she'd never seen a doggy like that before. How had it gotten there? Was he a nice doggy? He'd made a lot of noise, but Alexander made a lot of noise sometimes too and he was a nice doggy.
"Mister doggy, are you ok? Are you a boy doggy or a girl doggy?"
The sound of a voice made the Organoid whirl around, staring at...the rather tiny human. He hadn't seen a human that tiny before. Master was small compared to the adult humans, but this human was very small. Perhaps she was a very young human.
The words didn't make a whole lot of sense to Shadow. The gender did, but considering he didn't really have one (though he figured humans referred to him as male) he couldn't answer that properly. That, and he couldn't talk. Dilemma. 'Doggy' didn't register at all, though it was similar to dog. Maybe that was what she meant...
Shadow thought about how to deal with this and decided a neutral sort of rumbling sound would suffice as an answer. It would hopefully at least make the little human girl realise he was incapable of answering these questions normally. Unless there was a computer around, but he wasn't picking up anything that might be like that. This place was oddly dead to his senses.
Nina tipped her head at the rumble, eyes still wide, back to the wall. "You can't talk, huh? Alexander can't either. But he gets what he wants across pretty well. He's pretty smart. Did you just get here? Are you lost?"
Hmm, what did humans do when they answered questions without words...oh yeah, that nodding thing. Nodding was hard for him to do, but he could manage it. Lost? You could say that, he supposed. He nodded, neck moving up and down while his head stayed semi-stationary so he could watch the girl. She didn't seem threatening, but he wasn't going to trust her just yet.
After being delayed all night, Ricardo had finally made up his paste to post his open letter on the doors. He was rounding the corner when he heard the roar. He immediately began casting on the grounds that, since last night, he assumed that anything animal was probably out to kill him. He stopped short though; something was off.
First of all, it was mechanical. That was new. The monsters had been twisted and unnatural, but always organic. Second of all, it was day and the things didn't seem to come out in daylight... probably. But then why was this mechanical dragon doing in the hall?
He watched it in silence for now, prepared to resume casting at any moment, trying to determine if it was dangerous or not.
Shadow sensed that he was being watched. Even if he was a Zoid, there was enough emotional response to situations programmed into him that made him feel like there were eyes watching him. It was a natural instinct for any Zoid. After all, who knew when those eyes belonged to a stronger foe?
He peered around and spotted the human. An adult...he snorted slightly, eyes narrowed. He didn't like the human adults. They made master do things he didn't always want to. Not that they really could do much, but it was still a sore spot that Raven couldn't always do what he wanted to. Anyway.
The Organoid stood easily, not drawn to his full height, just balanced well enough to fight if he had to. Humans didn't generally like him. The hallway was small, so he couldn't really fly, but he could still give the man a decent whack if he tried anything stupid.

It surely saw him. It saw him and it wasn't attacking him yet. That was a good sign. The snort and that look on its face-- could a machine have a face?-- weren't especially friendly, but at least it wasn't attacking.
"Can you hear me?" His voice was neutral for now, but threats lurked just beneath the surface. The last time he'd seen a mechanical beast, it had a very human pilot inside. The kind of human who didn't care that its machine was using other humans as fuel. Ricardo didn't get along with that kind of human, as a matter of principle.

If Shadow was able to, he would have eyerolled at that. Did the man think him stupid? Zoids were smarter than that, even if the bigger ones usually relied more on their pilots. Instead he just nodded slightly, the movement a little awkward but obvious as to what it was.
He was wary still though, but didn't move yet. He wasn't sure how well he'd be able to react inside, so it'd be easier if the human would move closer first, in the event he had to attack. Hopefully though he wouldn't. Shadow didn't really want to break the man. Zoids were more fun, and had a purpose for being destroyed.
In the parlor, Eight has been crouching behind the door of the closet. Up until the roar, which seems to shake the entire house, at least to Eight's tiny frame of reference. In a panic he grabs his weapons and runs out to find the source of the noise, so as to better locate where, exactly, he should be running away from. Besides, Ricardo told him the closet was a bad hiding spot, although Eight can't remember why.
At the sound and sight of a mechanical creature of such size, Eight freezes up entirely. Right in the dead center of the hallway, holding his butcher knife.
He feels the sense of being watched and catches the brief movement out of the corner of his eye. Shadow swings around to stare at the tiny thing. At first he decides to dismiss it, because what harm can something so small do to him? But no, it has a weapon. That, and he's never seen anything like it before. That pipes his curiosity. Will such a small thing really try to attack him?
Either way, the Organoid lets out a small warning growl. He won't attack, but if the tiny thing attacks him, he won't hesitate to fight back. And in that contest, Shadow suspects he'd win.
Well, Eight is suitably terrified. Keeping his weapon up, he scurries under a table, as if that will help him. Although that brings him no comfort, since the shadows here are also bad news.
Tiny thing had disappeared. Shadow was more curious that he ought to be, so he walked over and leaned down as far as he could, peering under the table at the tiny thing. His head tilts, wondering what the little thing is. It seems to be made of fabric, but it was alive. Something mechanical inside it maybe?
