NC life 2 weeks in

Mar 09, 2013 03:29

This move feels slower than any other move.  Practically a snails pace .From the selection of city, to home, to moving in, getting back to work.  We have been here exactly 2 weeks, and I just got my hangers to unpack my closet today.  Some how if my clothes are unpacked, then I feel like I can relax.  It's usually the first thing I do when I get to a hotel room, or the like. Get out of a suitcase and on with life! Most of our furniture doesn't arrive for another 3+ weeks from Virginia.  We came with our bed, a chair, a dresser, some ikea stool/endtables, and boxes and boxes full of stuff. Mostly my books and clothes, and some kitchen things.  Just got a gorgeous claw foot oak table from craigslist that will clean up real nice, once we get to it.

My mental moving process took a back seat for the week, cuz I came down with shingles.  For a while I thought I was just unmotivated, lazy, depressed, but once I realized I was ill I took it easy.  For the last few days I've been sleeping a ton and taking a bunch of drugs.  I think my sleep caught up with me, cuz I'm just figety, itchy and my mind is super active.   I'm on the downhill side of shingles, so I'm feeling more and more ambitious and excited to get going.

Buying a house has so many more aspects of care than i had ever thought about.  This is most definitely the biggest move of my life.  While I lived in Illinois, Long Beach, and San Francisco I always kept a stash of things at my parents home.  I never needed to pack clothing or reading material.  Now all that has been cleaned out.  I have a place for everything here. Plenty of room, and the organization will come.  I already have a bin of clothing to give away.  Towards the end of leaving SoCal I just throw things in boxes, to be dealt with at a later date.  Opening boxes is always a surprise, some of our boxes were packed October/November 2011.  We were so vigilant about getting rid of stuff in SF, many things I thought I have are gone.

anyhow,  late night blabbing about the house.  I'm in a really good place, I have an amazing husband, and folks say you just fall more and more in love with Nevada City.  It's nice to write and not obsess.

Thanks for keeping in touch,  LJ helps me feel connected much more than other social media.  <3<3<3 hugs
