Our Thursday (with pictures)

May 28, 2006 23:00

Thursday was memorable to say the least.

We had the Nightstalker Memorial early that morning. The weather was terrible, it was storming something fierce but as soon as the people started gathering outside for the ceremony with their umbrellas the rain stopped, the winds died down, and it was just overcast. Someone upstairs wanted us to be able to pull this ceremony off! This memorial was rough, they unveiled the lastest 4 names to be added to the "Wall" with two of them only being a week old. (A large granite memorial wall baring the names of all fallen Nightstalkers... 2/3 of those names have been added since 2001!) Needless to say it was an emotional ceremony this year. Jim knew one of the guys for over 9 years, so it was hard for him.

After the ceremony we had a chance to chat with some old friends and say our goodbyes to some of the civilians that work out on the flightline, that we know we will not have a chance to see before we roll out of FTCKY for good. It was nice to have that chance. Then we got a bit of good news, Jim's orders were ready to be picked up! So we stopped into the shop and picked them up, only to discover it is just a packet of info... we can't get the real orders without our "Levy Brief" on Tuesday. OYE! But at least it is a step in the right direction!

Then we headed out to the mall to get my hair done for the formal that evening. See my hair babblings here! Then we headed back to post to pick DJ up from his last day of school! He was so happy to get picked up but he ran around the classroom crying, giving everyone hugs, telling them that he is moving to WA and he will miss them all. It was heartbreaking to watch, I mean our son was born and raised here (well ok, technically he was born in MI, and he did spent one year in MI a few years ago... but for all intensive purposes, he has lived most of his life here).

Thanks to littlemamabunny we were able to enjoy the evening without worrying about DJ. She kept him overnight so we could have fun and still come back to the house for some continued fun. *wink, wink* Anyways, the formal was loads of fun this year... we had a blast! This year we shared a table with our friends from Green Platoon instead of the stuck up medical section. The whole evening we were rolling with laughter and a few tears. Basically, it was a bittersweet evening since we knew this would be our last one. *sniff, sniff* We danced a little even though the Physical Therapist told Jim to sit it out. (Hey I paid lots of money for that night, I was gonna get at least ONE damn dance out of him!) Apparently I got more than tipsy and danced in the rain in the middle of the fountain outside of the convention center! I can't believe Jim let me get THAT drunk! ROTFLMAO! Honestly though, this years ball was fan-freaking-tastic and it had to do with the better company this year!

So anyways, before I ramble on... here are 4 pix for your viewing pleasure...

Yup, that is me in a killer hand beaded gown with a 20's flare, 1928 vintage jewelry, and my rocking new punky hair! (Pre-highlights though.)
In case you are wondering, I have parked my rear onto a "Little Bird" helicopter!

And here is Jim in his brand spanking new "Dress Blues" (minus a few extra ribbons since the clothing and sales store ran out! Damn it!)
Doesn't he look handsome though?!

Pictures taken by the paid photographer SHOULD arrive here at the house in 2-3 weeks! I just hope they get here before we leave! LOL!
