Our Saturday (with pictures)

Every year our unit has an entire week dedicated to honoring the unit, it's past and it's future. (And while I am at it... THANK YOU to all of our brothers and sisters in arms who have or continue to defend our freedoms!) It is a week full of events, memorials, formals, etc... (it's called WONSA) Anyways, Saturday we had our unit picnic. The NSA usually pays for it and hosts the event... it begins with the Memorial Bike Ride arriving at the grounds, then we party all day, and then go home in the evening. This year had to be the BEST so far... this year we had it at Beachaven Winery (instead of on-post)! HELLS YES PEOPLE... the whole place was reserved for us... we had tons of free food, entertainment, kids activities, free beer and soda, etc... And then our private event ended 30 minutes before "Jazz on the Lawn". IT WAS FREAKING GREAT!

We started out with BIKE and TRIKES, rolled into a BBQ family day, and that rolled into fine wine and jazz. What more can you ask for?! Of course during the day Jim and I enjoyed ourselves a bit too much... Jim put down probably 12 beers during the first half of the day and then the two of us probably had 5 bottles of wine (we did share with friends though)!

All in all, it was an AWESOME high note for the week (the whole week has been bittersweet)... we got to reconnect with former NightStalkers and say goodbye to all of our friends that we don't see day-to-day.

The first pic is of DJ next to Tim McGraw's bike. The company that customized his bike is making one specifically for our unit to raffle off. Tickets are $20 each! EEK! Although it is a $57K bike! LOL! Doesn't DJ look all cool with my new hat?! The second pic is of Jim DRUNK off his butt, taking a break from all the wine. Hehehe.... The third pic is of the band playing for "Jazz on the Lawn" and the last pic is of DJ playing with his glow sticks during the last hour we were at Beachaven.
