Woken abruptly by Matt's phone ringing at 6:30am. He had been waiting for a call from a woman about this morning's job last night, but she called this morning. I was not impressed. She will let him in the building at 7:30am, and then she has to go somewhere else. He has to put in a bi-fold door for her in her office.
He left at 7:15am - since the job is at Toowong, it would only take 10 minutes to get there. I sprung sprightly (not) out of bed. I put some washing on, then packed up the kids, to take Blade and Storm to their dad's place. I don't usually - it's not my responsibility to organise his access visit, but sometimes, when he can't get a car to borrow, sometimes, I'll relent. I was just driving out of the driveway, when Matt called and said he needed me to take him a small part for the door. I found it, then we went to drop it off to him. Storm had to wee on the way, so I had to divert to a small park, so he could stop and take a leak. (Shoulders slump).
Finally got the kids delivered. Went to the shopping centre with River. He needs a new clipboard for school, and needs it by Tuesday for his excursion. Went home. Matt was already home. He said it hadn't taken him as long as he thought.
Matt and John worked on John's car. Something about the carburetor and fuel line. They got black. I helped River with a movie review about Zathura. It's so terribly difficult, being an adult, to help to write things to the level of a Year 4 student. (Don't know your US equivalent, but the kids start school in Grade 1 the year they turn 6 years old. School year runs from end of January to mid December. Usually 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday) River is 9 years old - Grade 4) Getting some sort of momentum is almost impossible. He wants to describe every incident in detail, and I have to cut it short by explaining that he only needs to tell a few details to make it interesting enough to other people who read it, to make them want to see it themselves. I took headache tablets. Not only for the headache, mind, but also for the sinus problem still lingering.
We typed River's review, and then he pasted it in his book for Monday. I had to lie down. It was about 1pm, I think. I fell asleep. Matt woke me at 3:30pm, and then he lay down for a nap. I went to pick up the other boys at 4:30pm. Peter said they had walked to McDonald's for lunch, and played in their playground.
Got home about 5pm. Matt came out about 5:15pm. I was to wake him at 5:45pm, so I'm sort of glad I didn't have to put up with his attitude when he woke up. He doesn't wake well from an afternoon nap.
John is making spaghetti bolognese for dinner. It will be an earlyish one, because Matt and I are packing up the kids, along with air beds, to go and have a few drinks at Ian and Nicky's. We will be staying the night there. Will be good to get out and socialize for a bit.
