I think Chris goes to a conference and Vin is watching the ranch. Hire men are watching and think he is Chris who they are hired to take. When they get Vin I believe they take him to Washington State. The guy that hired them is pissed at first but knows Vin and close. Has the mengoback and case the ranch out yada yada....
