Well, since other people are putting up change of season posts, I thought I'd do likewise. (I'll organise a Christmas icon, but I'm too tired tonight!)
SUMMER HAS ARRIVED IN AUSTRALIA!!! (Well in name, at least!) The nights are still cool, and the days sunny and pleasant. I can't believe it's just over 3 weeks to Christmas! I've only bought two presents so far!
Our Christmas is totally different to the conditions in the northern hemisphere. There's no knowing what sort of weather we may have. It may be a pleasant, mild day, or scorching hot. Consequently, we don't have a cooked Christmas lunch.
Staff where our younger son works receive a Christmas hamper from management each year. Since he shares a house with two other people that work at the same place, he said he will provide most of the food for this year's lunch, as he did last year. The hamper includes a turkey and a leg of ham, as well as many bits and pieces like Christmas pudding, fruit mince pies, nuts and other nibbles, etc. He also received a voucher from a seafood restaurant recently, so has promised a crayfish (lobster) as well! Yum! I will cook the turkey the day before (to eat cold) and make the salads.
Today I started a new temp job. This one is situated at the airport. I had a long walk from the carpark (thankfully, free for staff), into the Qantas terminal, through security (would you believe, I had a fork confiscated from my lunchbox - I always carry weapons with me!) and finally into a poky little office. There's no danger of being underworked in this job, compared to the last one. There's so much to learn, my head's buzzing. I'll probably have forgotten half of it before I get back there on Monday. *rolls eyes*
